Just installed the Vette servo from Greg Ducato. Easy install, just follow the simple instructions and enjoy! If your Permagrin was starting to fade this will bring to back. Thanks Greg

Received mine from Greg this last week. Goes in Wednesday, having the dealer install while they replace my driveshaft. Just in time for Springfield.

The Vette servo has a larger apply area than the stock piston in our SSR's. The benefit of this is that it applies the band with greater force and increased holding power. This not only gives a cleaner, crisper 1/2 shift but also increases band life due to reduced slippage. These install from the outside of the transmission in about an hour start to finish. We ship these with SSR specific instructions.

Neal, hope all is well up - out there on your farm. Dry down here.

Greg, we're not having any problems with our 06, but sounds like it would help to keep one from beginning.
I just sent you (Greg) a pm for one.

It is a good modification to avoid problems with the second gear band. Once you have excessive slippage and damage the band it is irreversable. Fortunately the band material on the SSR transmissions is of extremely high quality and very durable, but prolonged slippage takes its toll.

I'm not sure if this will affect warranty, but since it is a part engineered by GM and used in many applications as original equipment I don't see the conflict.

You are correct in that the band is also applied in overdrive along with the 3/4 clutch pack. The Corvette servo only applies the band in second gear, there is another servo behind it in the same bore that applies the band in overdrive. Thanks for pointing that out Double-D

Two questions on the upgrade...

When accelerating conservatively does this make the 1/2 shift more stiff or does it really only kick in during more aggressive acceleration?

Also, I've noticed a slight chirp at the 1/2 shift during aggressive acceleration. Is that the trans slipping which this is supposed to resolve?

I'm still fairly new to the vehicle, but starting to upgrade some of the little things.

The part throttle and full throttle shifts will both be more positive with this servo. Ultimately, the firmness in the shift is regulated by the computer adjusting transmission pressure according to throttle position, the servo acts as a stronger lever to apply the band. The chirp you hear may be the engine belt slippage created by the torque management system.

Hi Greg, pm me the cost and payment methods for this servo upgrade. Question: In your opinion why was this servo not incorporated in the original design of the SSR auto? Thanks in advance Danny!

Danny, I can't speak for GM on this but I suspect the truck servo was chosen for greater shift comfort for the majority of owners and greater vehicle control under wide open throttle where in some conditions a more positive shift could step the rear end out a bit. Just a theory! I sent you a PM on ordering.
