Bevan, your transmission has the Sonnax billet servo assembly for second gear which has even greater apply area than the Vette servo and is the one we sell to all the folks with superchargers, turbo's and Nitrous to keep the second gear band from slipping when you drop the hammer.

Question No Mechanic

What is a Servo and what does it do? I have an "04 and would like give it a little more Pick Up.

I also thought about a "Chip" but I have conflicting opinions on weather or not the Dealer can tell I have messed with the engine. Don't want to loose my factory or extended Warrenty.

Thanks Greg for the Servo. I agree that is the best money you can spend.

The servo improves the 1-2 shift quality by increasing the clamping force on the band. It also helps extend band life by reducing drag on application and release. It can be installed with the trans in the vehicle and takes most shops or installers about an hour.

Thumbs up I'm a Member

I, too, recently joined the Greg Ducato Servo Club for Men (and Women~)

I've played around in the past with Turbo 400 and PG's, modding with shift kits and switch pitch torque converters but am clueless with the modern electronic controlled trannies. However, this is a bit of "old school", dirt under your fingernails modding that I love. It is the BEST SINGLE MOD you can do to improve our SSr's. That 1-2 sliiiiiiiiide shift was extreamly annoying.
That sliiiiide is gone now, replaced with a smooth, firm upshift that will break the rears loose if you're on it but feels sweet when you're just leaving a light, heading to the store for a loaf of bread.

The nice thing about this is almost anybody with some basic hand tools and a small amount of mechanical aptitude can do it! Greg's instructions are spot on (and a bit amusing!)

I too love the servo that Greg installed for me along with the torque converter. WOW!! I sure don't miss that sloppy 1-2 shift or the hard overdrive shift. It's all smooth going now. AND the torque converter made a huge difference. Now get Mike's exhaust installed and the custom tune and I think I'm all set!

We usually suggest the Sonnax billet servo assembly for supercharged applications as it has even greater clamping force than the Corvette servo.

I also changed out one of the bands and it made an even better shift difference. Not like my 700R4 but really nice between 1&2.

Actually, nace, it's a bit more involved than that. I'd be a bit more concerned about the driveshaft and joints first. The servo actually helps with band wear in the transmission, but any sudden slams on a drivetrain will eventually lead to breakage.
