Glad you liked it, it's nice to hear your dealer is sensible.

Got mine back yesterday
Greg,
I just got mine back after having Higgins Transmission in Little Rock install the servo. They mentioned that your instructions were dead on. I can't believe the difference in the ride. Where before it felt like a billy goat truck and I had resigned myself that this was the price I paid for a performance vehicle, it now shifts and rides like the thoroughbred it is supposed to be. I turned off the traction control this morning on the way to work. I accelerated hard from a stop and it when it hit 2nd, the rear end jumped to the side. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised! I never expected that with the stock tune. When you told me I'd like it, that was a huge UNDERSTATEMENT!
Thanks again!

Greg - Will the servo make an improvement to the 2005 shifting sequence as well? I read three or so pages of this yesterday and everything I read dealt with 03 and 04. Maybe I missed mention of the servo being installed on any 05 or 06 R's. Also, I believe somewhere I saw a price of $38? And, that it takes about an hour to have a transmission shop install? Maybe, for us late arrivials, you could give us a brief summary of what it is, what it does, pricing, how to buy, etc. Thank you.

The servo is a piston which applies the second gear band. It has a larger apply area than the stock SSR piece and thus will apply the band with greater clamping force, eliminating or greatly reducing slippage during the shift and extending band life. The 2005 and 2006 models will also benefit from this modification as they used the same servo as the 2003-2004. You are correct on pricing and installation time.

I got to tell you, that shift was almost a deal breaker. I loved everything about the SSR except that shift. Now, it's a thing of beauty! I took my daughter for a ride and she could see the difference in the ride. The next thing I have to do is I have to put to rest that delay on takeoff. I'm looking at at the Diablosport Predator 93 Octane tune to put that to sleep.
Once again, thanks Greg. (and billy goat truck was probably way too harsh, but I am one happy camper).
My SSR: 2004 Ultra Violet completely stock ... for now !!
after the 5640 mile route 66 trek the wife and I just did, I sure could use the servo, please let me know what the prices are shipped to Canada, thanks Greg.

You can cure your "Take Off blues" with a different torque converter, it makes a world of difference.

Greg's right, (of course,) a new torque converter will give you a much better launch, but I'd say do a tune first anyway. I've got the predator and Greg's servo and both make a big difference.
The predator really wakes it up! Better shifts, vehicle feels lighter, great bang for the buck! Just be careful if you buy one used. If it's locked it'll cost you $130 to get it unlocked, but they do it right over the phone and the unlock is instant.
There are tons of other options for a tune, but bang-for-the-buck the Predator is a good, quick, predictable option, IMO.

Rambler. I found that just installing the servo did not correct my 2nd gear bump shift if that is what you are refering to with your sequence comment. Eventually my second gear and fourth gear went completely and it started with that naging 2nd gear bump shift even with Greg's servo installed. When I got it back from the shop after the gear repair/replace, it still had a little bump shift in second gear. My speedo was acting up also at the time and I had it replaced (reading eratically). Since both were replaced and with Greg's servo, it now shifts perfectly and solidly. I don't know if the speedo has anything to do with the odd shift, but once they were both repaired/replaced, it runs and shifts like it never has since I've owned it. It's a blast to drive now. I think the speedo is related somehow although technically I can't say for sure (maybe someone here can), because I clearly noted a huge difference, my second gear bump was completely gone after the speedo was replaced. Just my two cents, but if your chasing that second gear bump, make sure your speedo is working right.

Yes the speedo along with the engine rpm are used to control the shifting of the trans. The ECM uses the rpm signal for trans input speed and the speedo for trans output speed. So with ether acting up it will effect trans shifting.

Thanks Blue, I knew someone would know. It sure made a difference for me, I wonder now if the speedo issue caused the tranny problems in the first place, oh well, it's all good now!

Your welcome , glad to help. If the speedo problem was with the sensor, it very well could have caused the whole problem.
