Cam Swap Complete "What The"
This was a "real" treat. My hands are all cut up and swollen. Lump on head from hitting a propped up hood, my brother has a lump on his too. Guess you can call us the lumpy brothers. My back is killing me.
The oil pick up tube going into the oil pump... Are you kidding me? I tore the front of the motor down 5 times at least! FINALLY, got it in correctly and now have oil pressure. Also put the 20k tranny cooler in her. I had pieces everywhere. Ther neighbors were coming by to see what was going on. They probably thought I lost my mind or something. They left scratching their heads. (Had they stayed to help, I could have given them a lump to scratch instead.)
456 gears, vette servo, 2800 stall converter.
Took the computer to Brian Herter of PCM4less last night, for a while you wait custom tune. He's a MAD scientist I tell you. Just put it back in. I have not started it . In a couple hours that will happen.
Impressions of this LEP, Comp Cam will be coming throughout the week.
I'll wait till church services are over.
I have been waiting for you to do another mod. The stall converter story got me hooked. You should film your adventures because you could make millions....

OK...
So yesterday (Sunday) I asked the wife if she wanted to get out of the house for awhile and walk the mall and get a bite to eat....
She said sure but we shouldn't take the SSR because it might break down... C'mon honey, you know I'm the man when it comes to this stuff!!!
hSo we took the SSR and went... We stalled at a stop light but did not break down. Turns out I have a bad 02 sensor (I'll fix that) Currently it's making me run very rich. I also have the fan throwing a P0481 2 or 3 circuit code.
Other codes are P0151, P0155, P0174
Working the bugs out of it, but we'll be ok. Nothing to get excited about.
I will say this....The truck is so LOUD that it hurts my ears. Currently running the Flowmaster 50 series cat back but I believe I'll have to find a quieter muffler that will fit in it's place....

Updaate
OK, so here's where we're at:
My hands are healing up nicely
Brother said the lump on his head went down and Aleeve works well
I have a bad 02 sensor and must wait until this weekend to repair
The fan may have gone out on me. Showing a fan relay problem. I must perform the testing described in the library on the fan and let the results reveal the truth
Leaving work today and there was a crown around a '01 blazer. Of course I went over to see what was going on and turns out 1 of our enployees was changing the ignition switch. He was having no luck at all. He saw me and asked if I knew anything. "Do I know ignition switches? Hang on" got on this site and downloaded the super duper ignition switch instructions.
Here ya go (handing them off to another), now back up boys.....
Slightly different I'll admit BUT... by following the direction to a TEE they work well IF YOU READ THEM....
I just skimmed over them not noticing the key words like NOTE & IMPORTANT. I refer to discommecting the battery because the battery went dead over the 2 hours it took us to figure it out.
There were 6 of us making suggestions and 1 guy reading the directions and he was the quiet one of the bunch!
Long story short, he drove it home. A 30 minute job took 2 hours.
Now, we couldn't get the tumbler part in so you have to start it with a screwdriver. I told him that keys are overrated options anyhow.
A boring life I do not lead. But is sure is fun at times.
I wish you would've let me know you were changing the cam again. I could have passed along a few tips that might have saved you some grief. Especially that oil pump pickup. It IS a pain isn't it?
Before you replace the O2 sensor be sure to check the wiring running to it and make sure it's OK. It's unlikely that an O2 sensor "just happened" to go bad at the same time you were working on it. It might have touched an exhaust component after getting moved around.
Same thing on the fan problem. Look at the wiring and make sure nothing is damaged. And of course, check the fuse for the fan. It's easy to blow it and not know it. I just don't believe in coincidences.
And congrats on the install. I've done it and I know it's a tough job.

I sense there was a united sigh of relief when you showed up to help with that ignition switch.
Good Samaritans are not always there when you need them. Did you lend him a spare key?
Fuuny story!
