Can'y get my baby over 125MPH
I was wondering if anyone could help me resolve a question I'm trying to figure out. And that is; Why can't I get the SSR to go over 125MPH. It gets up to that speed and then tops out. Is this a chip resolution? or do I need a new chip to configure it to go faster than that? I love this vehicle but would like to get a little more out of it. Any thoughts out there that can help me in my delimma.

I probably won't either but it'd be nice to see it get up to 140 or 150 before topping out. Plus I'd like to take it to the track sometime and really air it out. Just to see what she'll do

and remember that the GY tires are only rated to 125......so don't be all crazy and drive 150 for an hour
You could also ask JimGnitecki what his software model tops out at....but I know, what's the fun in that....

#1 Upgrade your tires, which I did. #2 Superchips microtuner will allow you to turn the rev and speed limiter off.
Got to 137 on an open stretch of road, smooth as silk and still pulling when I backed off.

If you want to try to go over 125 mph you need to first change the tires and then reprogram the speed limiter in the computer, but it's not a good Idea to mess with the rev limiter on the engine as with auto or stick as a missed shift can do lots of damage very quickly without the rev limiter in place.

Now that's what I needed. I upgraded to the toyo proxys and am waiting for the money to get the tuner. Hopefully next month or so

The Predator will allow you to remove the top speed limiter, while adding a good 15+rwhp.

Mike, I recently (1 week ago) installed the Predator tune. Does it automatically remove the limiter or is it another process? Can I remove limiter without upsetting the current tune? It (the tune) did take away the off idle slight bogg and it does seem to run cooler. Was my fan on/off changed by this tune?
Not to be a party pooper, BUT The SSR is not a Corvette. I think the 125mph limit is a good idea. Its not very aero dynamic and its a heavy SUV based design that is prone to roll over at higher speeds with the slightest wrong input from the steering wheel. Better safe than sorry.

It has the best aerodynamics of any truck.
And where did you get the information that it is prone to roll over at higher speeds???? I haven't seen any such info.....

I do believe the speed limiter is automatically removed in the tune.
To be sure, you can select modify tune, and set the limiter to 'off', then reinstall the tune.
Fan temps are lowered a bit in the tunes.

Tipped over?
The only rollovers I'm aware of have been the result of loss of rear traction and spinning out or sliding, in other words, getting sideways. I know that there is a inherent risk of driving over 120, but "tipping over" is something Explorers were famous for, not the SSR. I have driven several vehicles at these speeds, and frankly the SSR felt as stable as any.

This is absolutely FALSE. BetterMost is a party pooper.
"Several members here have tipped over at high speed (one a fatality) will verify that information. Thats enough information for me!"
No members that I am aware of has had a high speed roll over. Lot of random picture posts, but the details are lacking. I had a slow speed roll over, from curbing the tires. and It is the OEM tires/high roll center combination. Replace the tires and enjoy the risk. This is a risk at any speed...

C-Chris, dude, where the freak are you driving at that speed? Hopefully not in Atlanta's traffic!! Those crazy soccer moms are gonna get you killed. That, or those 30-something Borg-like salesmen with a cell phone attached to their skulls. Track? Which track?? Think copacetic, Chris, copacetic.
