MAGNAFLOW makes high flow cats. The spacing between the squares in the honeycone are bigger, thus allowing more flow, but the same amount of catalyst contact area. There are other brands too, I'm sure there are flow spec sheets for them like there are for mufflers.
My SSR: 2004 Yellow, Auto, 456 Gears, Corvette Servo, Custom Tune, Flowmasters 40, BIG Cam
If you like the tone of your R at this point, you should not change the cats.
I changed mine and didn't like the sound, as a matter of fact I hated it. I then purchased another Y pipe and put everything back. Sound was not worth the few HP gain.
My SSR: 2003 "Ilsa" True Duals w/Jones Glasspacks, Eibach Springs, Addco Sway Bars, 4.56 Gears
Before I installed mine, I could see an approximately one inch hole all the way through when holding it up to the light.
