Solution 1: Some people have sent their plastic covers to be chromed like the plastic parts on other parts of the truck. I think there was someone in Florida and one in California that did good work. Might want to check out some of the chrome threads here. I think "Big Daddy" had some of his plastic engine parts done, might want to contact him for references or look here for a bunch of covers: Engine Covers & Inserts
Here is a picture of a chromed 05-06:
Solution 2: There was a company several months ago that made a metal shroud that replaced the plastic cover. From recollection I think it was very unique and looked nice. If I find the link you could chrome something like that. Here is a link to the notes and pictures from the metal cover. http://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/717305-post217.html
And here is one style cover he has already done but there are more.
Solution 3: If you want just the insert done (I stripped and polished mine) there are some chrome ones on EBay.
I thought of chroming mine first....But, decide to give mine some personality! Cold Hard Steel Plates w/ Rivets, then stamp the bowtie in each side, Splash some color from my pinstripes in to it and for $150.oo at the body shop. My cool engine cover is something to show off, I get so many thumbs up @ car shows.
