My SSR: 06 Blk Over Silver. Cam, Kooks 1-7/8" headers w/dual 3" hi flo cats, Phoenix trans w/3000 converter
Depressed And Need Counsel
I am depressed over the performance of my 2006 SSR. Perhaps I am a fanatic or possibly obsessed with horsepower. I guess it is all realative though. I have owned many prostreet vehicles over the years with the last one being a 650 plus Hp S10 Chevy prostreet truck.(*This was the de-tuned version after dyno guy toasted my 871 Supercharged motor which was in the truck making 1600 Hp!). When you put down the go pedal on the S10 it went, no hesitation, no windup on the motor, just the explosion of pure power.
All of the above being said power like that comes with a price. I finally got tired of the hot(Non airconditioned), Noisy(Dual 4" Flowmaster exhaust), Smelly(Methanol fumes) and decided to get a vehicle which I could comfortably drive in the Texas heat and actually hear my radio in.
Thus my decision to purchase an SSR. It is comfortable and I can actually hear the radio!! I am however suffering from horsepower withdrawal. I want my cake and eat it too. I want the horsepower and the rush of the supercharger as before, but don't want all of the negatives as mentioned above.

I need my fellow SSR fanatics counsel!!!
You think Methanol fumes are smelly? Oh the smell of racing fuel, Dirt and castor oil( My old flat tracking motorcycle days), Oh the old open face helmet and a front engine B/A with zoom headers, Easy just put a super charger on it for a start, You better watch out I gave up racing years ago and that SSR talked me back into it, Have medical that might stop me again but it sure is fun running that SSR down the track

Yeah, this is sort of like the good ol days. When I remminisce about all of the fast street/race cars I have had, I tend to forget the loss of hearing I know have from being too close to the fuel cars when they used to leave the line, all of the time spent pulling engines, transmissions, etc. Told my wife when I decided to get rid of my Prostreet S10 and get an SSR that one of the major reasons was that the concrete floor in garage sure seems to have gotten a lot harder than it used to be!!

Sounds like you got exaactly what you wanted in the SSR. A comfortable truck with a/c that you could hear your radio in. It goes fast enough and you probably got a great deal on it in the $35,000 range. I don't think you should have any complaints.
I agree.Call Joe as mentioned below. The Magnuson and a few minor upgrades will put that smile back. I don't have any negatives to report except that it sounds and feels so good to drive now that my music CD's are getting dusty. It's no loud, just sweet.
