what gear do u use 4 the dyno & how do u keep it n that gear was the question that the tech was wondering?
When running at the drag strip or on the dyno use 3rd gear on the automatics.
Dick what does MPH have to do with running on a dyno?? You can't really calculate what top end would be as there is no wind resistance. I want to know how much HP and torque I'm putting on the pavement.

hhmmmmmmmm....
Something doesn't sound right here.
Jeremy dyno tuned Penelope last September in five runs........tweaking each after the reference run. He ran it in 2nd gear each time. The final run produced 324 HP @ 6200 rpm, with 306 TQ at 4900 rpm at the wheels. Now this is an '04 with "some" engine/exhaust work done.
Seems like the 6 liter should be in the 320-330 neighborhood stock. Am I right about this or not?

I know that Poppa, just thought it was interesting to see a stock 05 turn 175mph on the dyno.
Don't know if anyone else has run their's that high.
Jeff has his dyno #s, he has the print out.

Those are nice numbers for Penelope Ed I think a stock 6.0 should probably put down 330-360 HP depending how aggressive a tune it has in the computer

Dan....I believe your 6 liter should produce 330 or so as a stock vehicle at the wheels. If you go forward, that is what the rated 400 ( at the crank) is stated on the invoice sheet.

Jimmy... a cam and the associated goodies will add another 30 to 50 HP and improve the TQ accordingly. Its fun to play.

Ed when I finally get ready to spend the bucks I'm gonna have her stroked to 402 with a cam and headers and hopefully put 450-480 ponys on the pavement. I think that's a better way to go with the LS2 than a blower. just my .02
Dan
if automatics lose ~25% of the HP, then you would be around 300hp at the rear wheel.
automatic 6.0 are rated at 390hp, so that would put around 292rwhp. sounds about right.
depending on the weather/humidity, you can get fluctuations in your output.

Dan...thats the way to go. Make sure you get forged pistons included for the bottom end, and free flowing heads on top. You'll make over 500hp. The headers including installation will be about $1800.
You'll probably spend about the same as going the SC route.

I had installed a cam, K&N cold air intake, Corsa cat back exhaust, Greg Ducato's performance transmission with 2800 stall converter, Mike in AZ's fan and tranny cooler, KNG plugs. AT Next Level Performance in Orlando Florida, after 5 dyno runs ended up with 366 rear wheel horsepower. Headers on order. Looking to uncork it for a gain of 20 -25 more horsepower.

I do not know the % of hp that an auto will lose but I have owned both an auto and now a 6-speed and there is a huge improvement with the 6-speed.
My SSR: 2005 Daytona 500 Official Team vehicle, LS7 flywheel, clutch, slave cylinder...Jeremy tuned!
2005 6 speed dyno
05 6sp
No K&N, no engine changes other then tuned by Jeremy and stock exhaust not even tips!
Fourth gear dyno with shutdown hitting factory rev limit stop which I believe is around 6200.
Averaged horsepower of the three runs 348.43
Averarged torque of of the three runs 362.19
Hard to tell even on my copy of the printout but it looks like two runs of ~144 MPH and a final run of 148 MPH.
As I recall, Dicktator, Jeff, Jeremy and some of the other locals were there at the time as Jeff had just gotten his side pipes installed. Not sure of a date.
My SSR: 2005 Yellow over Black - Side Pipes, Custom Air Intake
Never actually got a printout of the dyno runs, the last pull was all out, no rev limit, 7100 rpm over 175 mph, shut down Dyno (it won`t read over 175mph). Did get 341 rwhp and that`s before side pipes , air intake, polished throttle body and Jeremy`s tune. I had a predator high octane tune then.

I was told the Dyno run is in 4th gear this is supposed to be one to one. Mine put 387hp to the wheels. Blk 6sd cam headers OBT headers duels. Loose quite a bit of HP through the running train but happy. For the time being.
