First trip to the strip

Hitting the eighth mile tomorrow in my '05 automatic SSR. Any tips for launching/racing the eighth?

Stock tires. Stock everything except K&N drop in filter and Magnaflow exhaust.

TC off I presume? What RPM can I launch at with a stock TC and tranny and 3.73 rear?

Thx!

Premium gas, make sure you reset the computer (pull PCM fuse for 5 min) to make sure you have the best factory timing table loaded as well.

Don't put too much gas in, the less weight the better.

Don't roll through the water, go around it so you have better traction with the stock tires. Water will get in the grooves and pile up when you are waiting for the light and cause you to slip on the start.

If the track holds up good try the TC off but I don't think it hurts too much if it's on.

Don't dry to power brake waiting for the light, let it idle or maybe 500 RPM over with one foot on the brake and gas, then lay into it all the way when the light changes. If you get the trans fluid hot it's not good for internal parts.

Speaking of heat, only start the truck to move it. If you have a long line of cars waiting to run maybe leave it in neutral with the engine off and roll it as long as you can before driving up to the line. The cooler the motor the better your run.

Have fun and post some times!!!!!!!

All good advice especially resetting the computer with fuse #27
I would try going down the track the first time T/C off trans in 3 and just sit at the lights. Don't power brake just stab the accelerator on the last yellow light before green you will get a better launch letting the torque converter flash. Good luck and have fun

Thanks for all the tips!

Pop the hood, pull fuse cover on right side of engine, underside is a white plastic map of the layout.
