Smile Flowmaster Super 44 Video

In case anyone is interested, here's a down and dirty video comparison of the Stock Muffler to the Super 44.

YouTube - SSR Super 44 Muffler Install

Unfortunately, the video does not do the Super 44 justice... it's way better than what's on the video... but you can get a feel for it. :-)

Enjoy!

P.S.... yes... we LOVE it!

Well.... I have to be honest... I've only had it in a day and haven't hit the freeway with it yet. I hope to do that soon. However... in 40-50mph back roads I'm really impressed with how it quickly tones down to "normal". Just step in the gas and it's a whole new story! It's rumbling time then!

I would think on the freeway with no load on the engine it would be very quiet. With a load (i.e. going up hill or stepping on it) you'll know it's there.

I agree great job with the video, The super 44's must not be near as loud as the 44's, I have a friend that has 44's on his vette and it is pretty loud, I like that sound I have 50's on my 04 and it is way to loud, Flowmaster better get their numbers together as the super 44's should be louder than the 50's but it isn't even close

Not sure? Being the old computer software tech guy, did you check to see if you have speakers?

Seriously, I'm not sure... YouTube as with others can be finicky.... I'd try a different browser like Firefox or Safari... more than likely you're just missing a plug-in in your browser.

Now that IS interesting. Yes, I sort of expected the Super 44 to be as loud as the 44, just more refined in some way, and louder than the 50. When I'm in Maggie Valley next week, it will be nice to match up with others and see how they sound side-by-side.

Hey BluDragon,
I like it very much. I've been kicking around the idea for the last couple of weeks. After hearing yours, I just might go out and do it!
Sounds great to me!

I love it... just what I was looking for. BTW... install time was about 2.5 hours. The longest part of the install was realigning the tail pipes. What a pain!

Question Any Difference in Performance?

Any difference in the seat of the pants feel? It's been said that the Super 44 squeezes out a few extra ponies. Does anyone have any data on the ability of a muffler such as this to produce more power?

It definitely sounds faster and my foot seems to be a little heavier! Does that count?

Smile That Counts The Most

LOL ............ !! That's what counts the most. It's all about how we feel, not the numbers anyway.

Installed super 44 today

Based on the reviews in the forum, decided to change out the stock to the super 44. It is louder and the rumble can be felt in the cab while when pushing her. I considered changing out the tips as suggested but will wait until my wife get "used" to the new sound. I've got to make my changes in moderation as my wife would be upset at me changing out something that works.

The shop asked me if I wanted the old muffler to revert back to stock. I said no after hearing her pull up. Was that a mistake?

BTW: According to the chart they had displayed in the show room, the super 44 was suppose to be loader then the 50 or 40. I haven't heard the others so I cannot compare them. The shop did tell me that if I want it louder, I needed to change out the stock tips to one without baffles.

As others have suggested you might have changed your tips to the 5" Bosals BEFORE you changed out the muffler. It might have done the trick for you.

Maybe I am missing something here, I was under the impression that the real reason to change the muffler was so the system would breath better and the extra sound was just icing on the cake. Some are saying to change the tips if all you want is more sound and rumble if so why go through the work of changing the muffle if all you get is sound why not just go the tips. What am I missing here.
