Friday night drags
It has been a while since I posted, I have been out of town working and very little time to drive the . I took it out to the local drags Friday night and it ran good. It was a street legal night but there was still a few trailered in that were not street legal. There was likely 60 - 80 cars racing. I ran the about 12-14 times I lost track, I know I got 2 jmiles to the gallon that I am sure of LOL. Anyway the video is of only 3 races my wife took it she came late I won all but 3 of the runs and did not lose to anything that was street legal. Not saying it was the fastest there just the fastest street legal that I went up against. The one I am most happy about is the the run agaist the Ford Lightning, I am not sure what year it was. My SSR is stock other than removed Maf screen, amsoil airfilter and a custom tune.

Hi Rebel
I missed the last 15 months of my life, I have been working in Toronto supervising the construction of 2 new utility boilers, this job took over my life not a good thing. I promise once it is over I will get on a couple of runs with you guys and gals. It should be complete by the end of this month and I am hoping to get my life back.

Great Job Beating Those Fords
Nothing more satisfying that beating Fords, when I ran my SSR in March my favorite run was the one against a new Mustang GT, he ran a 13.64 and I beat him by about 4 car lengths with a 13.21

Hi Poppa
Yes it has been a while, I have been working out of town and I do not use my work computor for personal stuff. I also have not been getting home many weekends, so the has been neglected lately. I do still love it though it puts a smile on my face just opening the garage door. Yes I am still running the same custom tune and have only used 94 octane gas in it, which I can only get at Sunoco up here, I am glad everyone is enjoying the video and thanks for the compliments everyone. Someday it is going to get a supercharger but thats a ways off.

These are my times from May 2007
I posted this last year, this was at the same track when they did have the tree up.There was a head wind the night these times were run I am not sure it made any difference though.

Must say it was a lot of fun,I think I did okay, and the SSR preformed well, I was close to what I expected, I got six runs in and got better everytime. I think that was due to the night getting cooler as it went along. My first run was around 7pm and last run around 10pm. There where a ton of cars and I think the SSR did us all proud, only lost once the first one of course by a 1/2 car length was gaining from about 3 car lengths behind off the line. The car that beat me was a done up Eagle Talon, I then beat 2 mustangs, a Grand National we both redlighted I saw him go and went too, Then beat a GTO Nissan a european model with the stearing wheel on the wrong side, and a ford probe turbo GT and the last one of the night was against an old super bee with a 440 thought that it would likely beat me but he could not hook up and I beat him by 20 car lenghts. Here are my times

Thats what the slips read anyway, fairly consistant. I power braked a bit not to hard, just let the automatic shift itself, I think the last run I may have power braked a little more , I was real slow out of the gate but had a good time.

At the drags tonight July 2nd-2010
Well its been a while again and I have done a couple things to the stock 2005 automatic
Running the same custom tune Hot 94 octane.
456 gears - wow what a difference this car now comes out of the hole screaming, loses a lot of traction though
Corsa exhaust - sounds very nice
Corvette servo upgrade- actually its the servo that corvettes upgrade too, so its a little stronger than the stock vette servo, it hammers the gears absolutely no slippage. And when just leasure driving has a nice smooth shift I recommend it for sure and easy to do yourself on a hoist.
Thats it rest is stock and original goodyear tires -
On the run where I had 97mpr it broke lose in second gear and despite the traction control being off the engine still cut back for a split second but it was a blast when she got loose
Also this was my first runs in 2 years and I am no pro at this so I'm sure there could be better times in the beast.
Run 1- Reaction- 1.046
- 60ft - 2.205
1/8 ET - 9.017
1/8 MPH- 79.61
1/4 - ET -13.916
1/4 MPH- 103.24

xS-
I read the forum from time to time but just had nothing to post about. I am still in love with the SSR it now has 18 thousand miles on it and if i WON THE LOTTOMAX TONIGHT I would not replace it. It just lights me up every time I get behind the wheel. Its my dream car and I am pretty sure I'll keep it for life.

yes 456 gears are the way to go - but you need to be careful once installed can't hammer it passing cars unless you want to get sideways can only hammer in straight lines and its totally useless on wet roads might just as well be ice. maybe its the tires too . But overall the wow factor is way up since I installed the 456 gears.
Nothing beats old school dragging. Push button shifters & rev limiters take all the fun out of it.
Stock tires might as well be hard plastic, like on a childs bigwheel trike.
If you swapped to some drag radials, I bet your times would drop like a bad habit!

Hey 1Lucky dog
Any suggestions
I have a spare set of rims the Stock SSR rims - what kind and where would I get a set of drag radials to install on the stock rims.
My goodyears are wearing real good - likely because they are as hard as brick so I am not ready to replace them but if I can get a set of drag radials for the stock 20" rims I would consider it for sure.

I swapped to M & H drag radials.
I have 17 inch wheels all around, so I could not say what sizes may/may not fit.
Give them a call. They have great customer service, and are not afraid to spend a few minutes with you on the phone to help you find what your looking for(my experience with them).
