gear ratio with bigger wheels...
so after i instaled 22" wheels with 305/22/40 I do have a problem with gear ratio...
gears are longer and car is lame to compare what it used to be.
what to do? thx.
My SSR: 05 6 sp. with 4.56 gears, Flowmaster cat back, Crane cam and Rockers, lowered, Intro wheels, K&N.
What's the actual diameter of your tires? I'll plug it into the formula and see what your true gear ratio is. I'm assuming they're over 30" in dia. and that will be bad as the stock gearing is terrible with 29.3" tires!

31" I believe so!
I know with stock gear I feel like I'm dying...
Topspin I read some of your 456 posts and I went and ordered it from summit last nite as you recomended!
So do you think I'll be safe with 456? thx!

Steel, those 4.56s should help, but they will only have the same effect as 4.10s with the stock tires. Still it will be an increase in ratio over the stock gearing. If you have an automatic, probably a looser converter would be the key to really waking that thing up!

As usual , your wealth of knowledge is so cool!
Now if I only knew what a looser converter meant!

The term "looser" in this context refers to a higher stall speed, which means under acceleration the converter will allow the engine to reach a higher rpm quicker enabling the vehicle to accelerate faster from a rest. Bang for the buck, a high stall converter is hard to beat for appreciable gains in performance.
