Hesitation

I saw a device that plugs in to the throttle that is supposed to eliminate throttle lag. It looks like a legit deal and I checked out the website- Sprint Booster USA Official North American Distributor but they don't list the SSR on the site. Anyone know anything about this?

I don't have the throttle lag in my 05 since I installed a 2800 torque converter
but my wife's still has it. This device ( if it works) would sure be cheaper than a high stall converter.

Hi
These devices just plug a resistor into the MAF sensor and fool the computer, they are not a good way to approach rhe problem of hesitation. A good computer tune done by a reputable tech is definately some of the best money you can spend. A computer tune will cure many problems, such as lag, torque management, shift points and overheating and should even improve fuel efficiency.

I've done all kinds of performance mods to both of our SSR'S including dyno tune but the only thing I've found to cure the lag is a higher stall converter. Phoenix Transmissions converters WILL solve the problem and as soon as I get a chance I'll take Ann's to them and let Greg work his magic. He did mine and it will launch like a rocket! Best money i've spent on any mod yet.

As Poppa stated, a good tuner can negate the throttle delay.

Someting else that will cause throttle hesatation is the throttlebody itself. Do a ported and polished throttlebody, this will get rid of the hesatation that is caused by the torque management built into the throttlebody.

06 Blue SSR don't be confused by different claims, torque management is soley controlled by the ECM, without proper programming a ported throttle body would be of little help.

You are wrong my friend, as there is mechanical torque management. Just look at the raised sections on the throttlebody, it is there to limit how much torque can be produced at low throttle openings by restricting the amount of air entering the throttlebody. When you get rid of these raised sections you have much better throttle responce and have gotten rid of the last bit of torque management. I am not going on different claims for this, I am a ASE certified Master Auto tech with Advanced level Specalist cert and I am also a tuner.

The trucks come from the factory with a stall or hesitation on take off.To eliminate most of it,I put in my automatic a Diablo Predator Sport Tune from e-bay.I am satisfied and it also seems to have quicker shift points.A 20 minute DIY(do it yourself).Good luck ,

Ditto on the Predator solving most of the problem. Best bang for the buck, I think. A pro tune would go further, and of course there's always hardware upgrades, but for just a couple hundred bucks I was shocked what I got out of the predator.

(Of course it sounds like Double Trouble has already tuned and is looking for MORE!)
