improving the ride

Hey guys: My SSR rides like a truck (no pun). What are the suggestions on ways to improve it?

If you are still running Good Year RS-A tires, changing them to a different brand would be the first step to a better ride( from what I hear). A Trailblazer EXT crossmember will take out some of the shake. If it's all stock, better shocks and struts would help.

What tire pressure are you putting in? Maybe you got it too high.

Good question, Docrod . . .

Have you considered painting your SSR Slingshot Yellow?

All joking aside . . . with SSRTruck on this one. Replacing the OEMs with General Grabbers made a huge improvement in both ride and handling plus The Doophus just feels much safer with greatly reduced wandering butt.

! ! ! ! ! !

I've had RS-As as OEM on six different cars from Neon ACR to Grand National. The best single mod I made to each of the cars was getting rid of the RS-As. They have crummy dry traction, marginal wet traction and poor ride characteristics. Replace them with another tire before you do anything else. Goodyear must give them away to get OEM status.

I too am looking into a few solutions:
1. Tires- Michelin Pilot Sport 2, Continental but the sizes do not exactly match OEM. $1000-$1500. Possibly consider switch from all season to summer specific.
2. I have the new X Member and stiffening plate, this helps alot. $500
3. New coilover fully adjustable shocks compression and rebound. This is reported to improve ride and handling. $1200

In my experience, coilovers do nothing to improve the ride, no matter the adjustment.

I asked the same Q on TBSS site and the feedback was a softer ride with coilovers? Then I tried to confirm at a local speed shop and they said just the opposite- firmer ride.

There is no data on the spring rate on any of the after market springs that I can find to compare to OEM. That would help then we really tune to rebound/compression.
