Installation of BMR Rear Control Arms on TBSS

I spent the day working in the garage on the TBSS's rear suspension. I moved the Parking Brake Cables, ground down the Brake Line Brackets, reversed the Brake Line Tabs, installed the BMR (Solid Upper and Lower Adjustable) Rear Control Arms and modified the BMR Upper Control Arms for the air bag load leveling sensors. This was all in preparation for a new set of 17x5.5 Front and 17x10 Rear Boze Wheels with M&H Racemaster DOT Drag Radials I will be installing in the near future.

Removing the Parking Brake Cable Bracket, Brake Line Tabs and Air Bag Load Leveling Arms.

Tab for Air Bag Load Leveling Sensors on Upper Control Arms.

Comparison of Stock 4 Link Rear Control Arms and BMR Solid Upper and Adjustable Lower Control Arms.

Drilling out the top of the Upper Control Arm Mount on the frame to move the Parking Brake Cables and the mount for more clearance. I also Ground down the Rear Brake Line Tabs for more clearance.

Drilling and tapping the Solid BMR Upper Control Arms for the Load Leveling Sensors. I used collared Brass Bushings and 1/4" 20 x 3/4" Stainless Steel Button Head Screws. I also installed 90 Degree Grease Fitting in all the forward end of the BMR Control Arms.

Finished Pictures - There is now enough room to tuck over 1 1/2" more tire inside the wheel wells.

They work good and they are strong, I have them on the Biuck and with 10 1/2 tires I can pull the front wheels in the air, I twisted the drive shaft and the guy at the machine shop said he had never seen anyone do that, Wanted to ask you a questions on the 427 build, My SSR is lowered and the one you are working on looked like it was to, Did you have any trouble getting them big M&H tires under it,

Hanks SSR was only lowered with the Rear Eibach Springs only. Make sure to move the Parking Brake Cables like I did above.

looking good

Joe,
Again nice set of pictures documenting the swap out. The big thing I noticed from looking at the pictures is that the new upper bar seems to be a diffrent length than the stock. Is this true or just an optical elusion?

The stock upper control arms were slightly longer then the BMR replacement (Mostly the angle on the pictures). I am sure that your stock upper control arms are shorter now after the last track outing.

I'm afraid to know the truth about their condition. I won't drive it again until they've been replaced. Parts are on order.

Thanks for all the compliments, I cant wait for the cage and drag radial install.

It is going in for a Cage made out of Chrome Moly Tubing and will have 3 Custom Corbeau Race Seat with 3" 5 Point Harnesses. We ordered the tubing last week (80 Feet of Tubing) and will start on the cage as soon as the seats get here. We are putting 3 race seats in the cage, 2 front and a center mounted rear seat (for my son).

I will use the same size Drag Radials as the SSR we built. They will be the M&H RaceMaster Drag Radials 185/55r17 fronts and 390/40x17 rear.

Thanks Joe I like my roll bar, I have swing outs at the door and had them power coated and they look great but they are hard to swing out now, I filed my side down some but the other side my wife said she was getting to old to climb under a roll bar to get in but she does get some funny looks when we go out to eat, I had my 6 point on and got pulled over by a state cop and he was going to give me a ticket, Said them belts were not state approved, I told him to go ahead because I just upgraded to this years NHRA spec, He said I will let you go this time but I need to see your shoulder belt from the side window, That is really going to be nice

The only way they could say they are no good is to check the dates on the belts. The Belts are certified for 3 years only and need to be replaced.

Those are some wild mods you have planned for your "Street Truck" Joe, but I am glad to see your emphasis on safety since you are a builder many look up to, and this sets a very good example.

Here are some pictures of the Front Suspension that I did and didnt post any pictures of. These are Belltech KW Coil-Overs that are double adjustable for both rebound and compression.
