Installation of lc32 cm and Mikes plate.
I have both coming and need to know if it can be installed without a lift or is it to big of a job for that? I like doing my own work but I dont need a ball buster. Thanks

The Frame Stiffener is OK with out a lift but the LC32 is a lot more difficult with out one.
Can be done but you will not have much room under the R.
Here are some pictures that may help.

1. Remove cross brace
2. Drill holes in front plate, 03/04 and early 05.
3. Frame bolted to front engine cross member
4. Remove OEM Cross Member
5. Install LC32.
Can the installation be done on a four-post lift or must the front wheels be off the ground when removing and reinstalling the lower control arm fasteners?

You can do it with a 4 post lift, 2 post lift or jackstands. All depends on what is available and how comfortable you are under the truck.
The critical thing is that you don't change the loading on the front suspension while the parts are unbolted. As long as there is no poisitional change in the suspension, everything that is unbolted should hold still until you get the hardware bolted back in place.
It would be a really dumb thing to unbolt the lower crossmember and then put the truck back on the ground and move it..... right? This is about the only "bad" thing I can think anyone would possibly do......
You'll still need to get a front end alignment after finishing to be sure that it goes back on the road as good as it can get....

According to my 05 service manual 177 lb. ft. is the correct torque for the large (M16) front crossmember bolts. I checked the bolt stretch once, when I was reinstalling mine, and 180# gave .006" stretch which is good for that size bolt. I think there's some confusion with the front control arm bolt (which doesn't get touched in the crossmember removal), which is torqued to 192 lb. ft. I've seen 120-125# thrown around as a proper torque for the M16 bolts - that's NOT enough and the bolt could possibly loosen.

Thanks again for great pictures Dicktator.
It might be an idea to edit Post #9 to the correct torque in the event someone doesn't read far enough in the thread.

Thanks, did that!
Did LC32 at Lonnie's on his two post.
You have to remove alignment bolts and replace. Re torque to 185 lbs.
I'm about an hour north of San Fransisco in a small golf course community called Hiddenbrooke. Are you going to install both the crossmember & the stiffening plate? When are you going to do it?
