Installed Phoenix Transmission

Big thanks go out to Greg Ducato and his entire shop for my recent transmission upgrade.

Funny thing is, once they tore into my transmission they found some common yet impending failure in that the #2 band was burned and also the 3-4 clutch...Soooo it turned into a repair/overhaul as well as an upgrade, glad we caught it in time rather than on the side of the road somewhere between here and the Flagstaff international SSR rally in September.

We went with the PTGM55HS stall converter and an 8 clutch 3-4 clutch pack and a few more upgrades

http://www.phoenixtrans.com/FAQ.html

My SSR now drives like it never has before in a good way. Cruising the shifts are soft and precise (Mrs. OP likes the shifts), but put your foot in it and WOW!...hold on.

This shop does incredible work and are very caring with your vehicle.

If you can't drive to Weatherford, TX to have the work performed, they can easily build you a transmission or rebuild yours and ship it to you to have installed.

Greg can expand more on their services, but I HIGHLY recommend Phoenix Transmission!

Sound like your burned #2 band and the 3-4 clutch problem is similar to what I experience last summer during the Colorado Rally. How many miles do you have on your SSR?

He had it done at the Tech day - and it has blood on it as an extra to keep it really cool.

If Greg was less than 300 miles away, I'd drive there for my transmission work.

Do like I did...drive in on a Sunday afternoon, check in to the hotel.
Be at the shop at 06:30 next morning with donuts and you'll be heading home that Tuesday afternoon...just call Greg and schedule in advance.

Maybe Red Cat should open a Bed & Breakfast adjusted next to the barn.

I've been known to drive across the country to have work done more than once. I'll keep Phoenix in mind.

I'd consider it when I was doing my major project, not the little upgrades I'm doing now.

Replaced trans

I ordered and installed one of Gregs units back in I think 2004.I had only 9000k on it but since I did so much HP upgrades,I opted to change before It had a chance to blow.I can't say enough good things about the quality of the parts and build job.I also installed his 3000 stall converter. The only pain was having to do the install myself which was the most difficult trans job Iv'e ever done.My 84 Corvette was much easier to do.Chevy didn't make these things too user freindly.
I'm the shiftless shifter with a no hanns trans!
Ducato is the man.

I drove up on a Thursday afternoon and dropped it off before quitting time...Friday morning at 10:00 I was headed back to H-Town. Greg put a tag team on it to get me back on the road.

Greg is a class act and operates a first class business in a professional manner. I have one of Greg's transmissions in my R. You will be completly satisifited with the transmission and the converter. You will love how the upgraded thansmission will make you R come alive. The stall converter will make the transmission run a little to hot. Mike in AZ has a transmission cooler kit that will do the trick. What would we do without these guys to keep our R's going and make them so much fun?
