intake choices

Good morning SSR fans. I've been in dialogue with the edelbrock community and thus far this is what I have been told. If you own an 03-04 SSR and want to stay with a mostly stock configuration the 7139 Edelbrock intake manifold will work for you. It will accept the 3 bolt 78mm TB currently on the 03-04. You may have to grind a little off to make it fit under the hood. I am also getting clarification as to if the fuel rails will fit on the manifold. Literature leads you to believe the stock fuel rails will not. Edelbrock offers fuel rails to work with this manifold but feedback from others tell me they are not simply plug and play. Still researching this as well.

Now if you have an 05 and above or you want to make your 03-04 with 90mm TB you will need the edelbrock 7140 model. this will require a car style (ie vet, camaro) 90mm TB for 03-04 SSRs. The 90mm TB has a 4 bolt configuration. On 03-04 models this means you will have to purchase a Torque Rush wiring adaptor (about $200 and some change) to fit your 8 pin engine harness so it will plug into a newer 90mm TB. I have not yet worked out the fuel rail issue here either. This might (and probably will) require purchase of a Camaro style fuel rail or fabrication of your own set of rails. The good thing about the 7140 manifold is the additional underhood clearance has been addressed by the removal of the lip that was on the 7139 manifold. An o-ring slot (for TB) has also been added.

Guys I have no vested interest in Edelbrock but I did want you to benefit from the pain taking time I have spent thus far...just trying to get information. I want this manifold on my SSR but until I can get the information as to the fitting and placement it won't happen.

Lastly my eventual plan is to grind off the edelbrock emblem on the top of this manifold and engrave SSR on the top with letters colored in Ultra Violet of course ...might highly polish the rest.
