Just installed the 91 Octane Tune with my new DiabloSport Predator U7191!
I installed the 91 Octane Tune with my new DiabloSport Predator U7191 on my 2005 automatic yesterday. Just as soon as I started the engine I could hear a difference in the exhaust. Sort of like a hotter cam was installed sound. I took it out for a little run in the country and let it rip a few times. There's no hesitation at all. Just straight on up with power all the way. I have the Corvette servo installed and that seems to work just fine with the tune.
I did find it interesting that I could nail it and the tires would squawk at about 55 mph when the tranny shifts.
I'm tickled pink with the DiabloSport tuner and it's renewed my Permagrin!

Did you fine tune the Diablo with the DSlogRedux program? This fine tunes the fuel injector slope. This program really made more of a difference than just using the Diablo.

They tune all the fastest Dallas area street racers, Texas Mile Racers and some drag racers - mostly high end stuff - twin turbo Vettes, Vipers, Ferraris. I talked to them last night - quoted me $400 for a HP Tune. Same price I've gotten from 3 other shops. Nice folks and easy to talk to.
I don't think your tires are chirpping on the trans shift, but more likely it's the drive belt slipping on the Alternator if it doesn't have the clutched pulley.
there is a bulliten for this condition

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment on a chirp or squeal or squawk noise on a WOT (wide open throttle) 1-2 upshift. This chirp or squeal might be interpreted as a noise coming from the transmission because it occurs during the upshift. Please be sure to verify the chirp noise is not accessory drive belt related before attempting transmission repairs.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If the noise is determined to be coming from the accessory drive belt complete the current SI diagnostics for drive belt chirping, drive belt squeal, drive belt whine, or drive belt rumbling. Make repairs to the accessory drive belt as needed. Evaluate the WOT belt chirp after the repairs are completed
If the belt chirp noise is not repaired with a drive belt replacement, or reoccurs shortly after a drive belt is replaced, please complete a field product report as directed in bulletin number 02-00-89-002E.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

That's strange how a drive belt can cause the back end of the SSR to weave and make a squawk. It reminds me of my old modified '69 Chevelle 396 SS 4-speed when I'd run it through the 1/4 mile. Same sort of sound when the rear tires break loose.
I contacted DiabloSport to find out if the newest version of the firmware changes anything as compared to the previous version when it comes to the 2005 SSR's.
I asked:
I see there is a new firmware update for the U7191 (9r03 08-12-2010). I purchased my U7191 just a couple of weeks before that apparently.
Is there a lot of difference between the new version and the previous version pertaining to the 2005 Chevy SSR LS2 that would make it worthwhile to have mine upgraded?
I was told:
There is no difference, it was an internal update, no need to do anything with it.
Now that you mention the rear end sliding then I agree that it's the tires, But I have seen too many people think there tires are chirping when it's actually the Belt slip. when I put the servo in mine it also would break the tires loose and the belt would also slip so I had to put a clutch drive pulley on my alternator.

If it ever stops raining here I'll have to take the R out for a good run again and pay closer attention. Maybe there is some under the hood noise I haven't noticed before. I'll know what to do for it then thanks to your post.
I have the belt slip issue with my 05/auto. I thought at first I spun a bearing or something because I was at WOT. It only happens at WOT and I don't do that that often so I live with it.

Did you go out somewhere and really put your foot to the floorboards with it? Mine is an automatic but it certainly was dramatic. Not so much just driving around normally but certainly when I put my foot in it.

Advise please. I read all the posts about Diabols and exhaust systems, gears, sway bars and all the other modifications you can make. I just have one question: where do you start? What gives the best bang for the buck? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have an 06 with 3 pedals and want to add a little, but don't know where to start. HELP

All I've done in the way of performance mods are the Corvette servo (which you don't need) and the Predator tune. There's probably no end to it with all the things you can do to your R. But, if you wanted to get a little more zip and not do anything else go for the DiabloSport tuner.
Hey guys, I'm also a new (05 auto) owner and looking for more zip. If I power brake mine it'll break the tires loose for maybe 10 feet and then go great till it hits 2nd and it falls on its face for a second then take off again. I would think that at 390 hp it would smoke the tires all day. Yes the traction control was turned off. Any ideas or experiences.
Thanks!!
Even with the traction control off, the computer is still managing the torque to the driveline. It sounds like you'd appreciate a corvette servo from Greg, for that shift to second gear. As for the engine torque management, I think the aftermarket tuners can change that, just be careful you don't over-tweak it.

Do you know how much weight you're packing? A stock LS2 ran 12.9 in my 2005 Vette, but add 3/4 of a ton and you have a cruiser.
