Leading Edge Performance MagnaCharger Cam

I went out to Vegas 2 weekends ago to tune a 2005 LS2 SSR Automatic with a 112 MagnaCharger at 6.5 psi of boost. The SSR has Kooks 1 7/8" Headers and the same dual 3" exhaust as my TBSS.

Leading Edge Performance installed their MagnaCharger Cam, Springs and Pushrods on Thursday and I got there Friday evening for the tuning.

The SSR made 431RWHP and 421RWTQ before the cam install on 10/1/08 fresh off the street with 91 octane fuel and 6.5 psi of boost on a conservative tune.

We started tuning and upped the boost to 7.5 psi. When we finished tuning on Friday Night we were just over 486RWHP but the stock Transmission and Converter were getting real hot. We came back in the morning and warmed it up to operating temp on the dyno and made another pull without any further tuning and made 499RWHP and 481RWTQ.

We wanted to push it out a little further so we added 5 gallons of 100 octane to 1/4 tank of 91 and pulled it 2 more times adding timing and got 515RWHP and 485RWTQ.

SAE Numbers
494.22 WHP
476.78 WT

509.72 WHP
480.46 WT

This was done in Vegas at over 2000 feet of elevation. That is a loss of 1 psi of boost when compared to a run done at sea level with the exact same combination.

Joe,thanks for posting those results. The sound change of the car is great, but the seat of the pants feel for the Lep cam change and your tune is awesome. When you drive thru a drive -in now, people really know this is something other than pretty. Many thanks to you and Garth @Lep to make this truck way more fun to drive. Great combination .

How come I can get only 455 RHP out of mine and I have a couple more improvements? Is it the 4.10 gears that give lower results and or the stall converter?

Do you have an aftermarket blower cam installed? Looking at what you've done, the only things that will substantially affect RWHP are the 'Charger, throttle body and headers.

It also depends on the type of dyno, elevation from sea level, type of tune, ambient temperature, etc. You might be producing more HP than you think.....

Gears and convertor will effect dyno #'s a little bit. Engine combination is important also (compression ratio/heads/etc). A great tune also helps, if you don't have one?

What is your C/R with the new forged piston?

They are flat top, stock size, compression should be the same. I have your cam as stated in my build sheet. I had it tuned by reece at MTI.

I have the 410 gears. What is important is the differance in the before & after cam & tune change on the same day. Changes in temp, press, dyno settings will change outcome.Eight months previous,we did a Joe & Garth tune on the same dyno & got 453 hp without the cam. Look at the final diff with Lep cam & Joes tune. It will probably add another 20 hp with 110 octane & a new tune to allow much more timing. Then I can crank up the boost & start replacing Rearend ,Trans, etc. Well ,I guess that is next because the price of fun cost. Man ,I love the fun factor
