Any fanatics out there able to post a pic of their lowered SSR, and post info on the kit used with how many inches the kit lowered their ride.
I'm debating what kit to use and I have gone and looked through older threads. Lots of good info but the previous threads on this topic were pretty void of examples by way of pictures of the final product. Any lowered pics would be good to give me a sense of how low to go. (before/after examples would be great.)
I'm also curious if those who lowered their SSRs had problems with front spoiler ground clearance. Or, if towing was affected in any measurable way? Hope I didn't exceed the one message limit for questions.
This old picture of two SSR in my driveway may or may not answer your question.
Stock height is on the left and my lowered SSR on the right. I used Eibach springs. Front is 1” lower and back 1.6" lower.
Check my gallery of pictures for several views; I used belltech springs, 2" in front; kit comes with 3" for rear but I still wanted it lower so cut my stock rears to about 4" drop.
kw front coilovers/rear drop spring and adjutable rear kw shocks is what i put in the ssrs and cornering is 10x better and ride is better than stock. And the customers trucks I do this to are not in there 20 or 30s. THey are older 40-60s and if a older customer is happy with the ride I take that feedback because I know the younger crowd tends to want it lowered and dont really care about ride.
Are thare any advantages to lowering the rear or is it just for Looks? Handeling any better?
Less fishtailing? Personally the high rear end gives it a distintive look but if it gives better handeling ability great. Can someone tell me.
My SSR: "Babe" '06 Pacific Blue/Chrome/6pd #22407, born 10/14/'05, and #21393, died 2/16/'07.

Anything to lower the high roll center of the rear end of our SSRs will improve handling and corning. I lowered the rear 1.5-2 inches using the Eibach lowering springs, but my rear tires are .5" taller than stock (45 series). Up front, I cut 3/4 of a coil off the 1" lowering that the front springs give, and run lower profile tires (40 series) for a 2.5 lower front end. You are not going to ride much lower unless you bag it. I modified a Solstice air dam (flexible rubber) so I don't have to worry about loosing it. It is a nice rake, and the rear tires fill the wheel wells, but the ride is firm, and not everyone's cut of tea. Handling is improved tremendously. Tires are KDW2s.
