MagnaCharged 2005 SSR 6 Speed at SpeedWorld

We were able to do some shake down runs with Hank's SSR at SpeedWorld on Saturday. This SSr is a 6 Speed and is proving to be a little hard to become consistent with. Like stated these are shake down runs at just 10psi of boost. We found a few more things to spend money on. The Upper Control Arms for the rear axle were bending on launches and unloading the rear suspension. The tires were actually moving 2.5" forward in the wheel wells during the launch and shifts. We also need a line lock to hold the SSR still long enough to be able to heat the rear tires up for the starting line. Hank will scan the time slips for these runs so I can add them to the post.

It is a 2005 SSR 6 Speed with a 427 LS2 and the MP122HH MagnaCharger at 10 PSI of Boost.

11.7 Run

11.8 Run

11.9 Run

One problem is it doesn't have any competition it would run faster with a close race, If we were closer it would be fun to race you with the 04, SSR ver SSR would make a good looking race

Cool 11"s

Love the video's... That truck looked like a buckin' bronco... not a ford though.

Hey Joe
Can you get into a little more detail 2.5 inches is a lot what is hapenning with the driveshaft and U-joints? Are the wheels hopping, or actually moving forward? Also were the upper control arms flexing or really bending? Please don't take this wrong you know how much I respect you, I'm just trying to understand.

Dan - The upper Control Arms for the rear axle were actually flexing so bad that the tires were moving forward 2.5" and rubbing the inner fender wells. We put it up in the air Sunday morning and the passenger side upper arm has a kink in it from flexing forward so much.

My God Joe I guess those good ole M&H drag slicks are really putting the HP to the road I never thought I would say it but maybe at some point there is too much HP, but it's still loads of fun. Thanks and good luck with the rear suspension.

Hi Joe:

- Keep us informed on what you do about the rear suspension issue. I imagine all of us that are running a Super-Charger will be in the same boat to one degree or another. I'm still planning on going to 10lbs of Boost and have the new Fuel-Pump from Lingenfelter already. Is there anything off the top of your head that we can do temporarily {no power shifts, etc} to improve the situation while we wait for a more permanent solution ?

- My SSR was delivered to the Pro Shop today for the installation. I'm still missing the Corvette 90mm Throttle-Body that I sent to Lingerfelter for polishing and the new ECM from Westers to handle the 10 lbs of boost. I expect to have them in time for the assembly after the stock bench-marks are run on the Dyno.

- I think I'll take it easy on the Silver-Ghost till we have a fix on the rear suspension. I'm in Chemo all this week, but next week it's 10 days in Florida {if I survive}.

- When I return from Florida my SSR goes from the Pro-Shop to another great shop to have the SSBC 14" Brake Kit and the Katzkin Leather interior {Black & Silver, Seats & Doors} installed.

- Wish me luck and I'll be looking forward to any information you can provide on the suspension issue.

We will be installing the BMR Control Arms and they should fix the issues with the upper control arms. The problem with the upper control arms is that they are a stamped part and u shaped unlike the lower control arms that are actually tubing. The arms open up when stressed real hard on launch with the big tires. Hanks will be posting up pictures of the stock arms and the new BMR arms.

I've been running the BMR upper and adjustable lower control arms on Hellvis

since I dropped the rear last summer. The adjustable lowers make a huge difference in ride quality with a lowered SSR.....

One thing Hank will need to do is install zerk extensions on both ends of the arms. The locations of the zerks do not allow you to grease them without removing the arms - we made up some extensions and they work great.

Tires moving forward, or body swaying back from g-force??

Mega curious to see how it holds up w/ the new controll arms.

The BMR arms are so tough I'll bet something else breaks before they do.

Let's hope it's not your gears breaking the sound barrier as they fly through the housing
