Wow, I can't believe nobody has answered you on this yet .......
Yes, the Magnaflows are an aftermarket muffler, you can get just a muffler replacement or a "cat back" system which replaces all of the pipe from the catalytic converter all the way back to the tips. I replaced just the muffler on mine and it was a nice change, more throaty sound without getting too loud in the cab on the highway. It was right for me but others want louder systems, some regret it and some do not. I know some people that bought the louder Flowmasters and took them off after awhile for being too loud. I have had Magnaflows on a few vehicles I have owned and I enjoy them.
Anywyay, you can contact any muffler dealer or online sales site for more info and pricing. Make sure you look around for your best price and do a search here in the forum because over the years there have been various vendors with good pricing. Good luck in whatever you decide.
Yes, fdsell has some nice products for the SSR, I have bought from him as well.
My SSR: 2006 Pacific Blue 3 Pedals, Chrome Pkg, Bernie's nerf bars & spare tire
I would recommend going to an SSR event and listen to other exhaust systems before you buy one.
What may be pleasant to someone else may be to loud or to mellow for you.
Sound clips are good but it is always better to listen in person.
My SSR: 06/6sd Sil on Blk-2SS, Chrome pack,Magnaflow. #23284

Definitely listen to different systems before you choose one.
I like the Magnaflows a lot....Strange that these are referred to as mufflers. They are loud (not a negative).

It's worth reading the whole thread. Mike made some changes to the system earlier this year - a bit less bark than the original system. Great sound, very high quality, and those 5" trumpets out back are gorgeous.
Xseler8 and CQQL SSR are correct - you really should take in an SSR event and make it a project to check out various systems to see what sound and quality (therefore cost) combination appeals to you.
I'm anal about cleaning the exhaust tips as part of detailing. Really like systems with the sealed double liner - easier to clean, and no ripped fingers from the inner pipe.

On SSR #2 I had a local custom muffler shop install a Magnaflow muffler in place of the stock muffler.
It sounded better than stock but I wanted it louder.
On SSR #3 I have two 24" pieces of chambered exhaust pipe (no mufflers).
It sounds great outside but is real loud in the cabin between 1,600 and 2,000 rpm.
It will completely drown out the radio when climbing a long hill in that rpm range.
I will deal with the cabin noise because of the great sound outside.

I took a 50 mile round trip this weekend on Interstate 74. Had the top up, windows closed due to weather. Running 70 mph @ 2,000 rpm... No muffler noise in cab and no drone noise at all. I have a Flowmaster 40 and can't say enough good things about it! Great sound!
I ordered an Edlebrock SDT muffler today for the 04,it takes part number 55771- 3" off set in, 3" off set out.
I should have it by Thursday and installed either Thursday or Friday for sure. I wiil post how I like it. They have a sound clip of a 5.3 supercharded on their sight and it sounds real nice. Check it out.
John, jgssr,
When I checked the Magnaflow website, they listed systems for corvettes but not SSR's. How did you handle that?

First you will need to look under truck to see if it's a single 3" in off set and a single out off set in 3". If it is Magnaflow # are Stainless Steel 12578, Polished 14578- this may be to long or 14264. You just need to look for the correct style of muffler, single in off set or not & single out off set or not. It may have a duel out if it's a 6.0 engine.
Good luck in chosing, Hope this helped.

Rather then trying to find a muffler for your SSR, I think it best to look in the yellow pages for a muffler shop that deals with custom application for hot rods, etc and let them fix you up with a awesome sound. I'll bet you ride home will be a blast.

Hi,
If there is not an application listed you would need to measure the muffler and pipes to order the correct item, luckily that has already been done by quite a few of us. The Magnaflow part number for the 03-04 is 12578 for the muffler and 15843 should be for the cat back system.
