My SSR: Black 2005 - Loaded
Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .
( . . . I'm having this casual conversation with my wife, yesterday afternoon . . .)
"Hey Honey, When we get Braden's, (our son), college finances all squared away, how about I throw a supercharger on the hotrod?" (Of course, I'm halfway kidding . . .)
Her Reply, "It doesn't matter to me, sweety."
I Gasp, "You are kidding me, right."
Her Reply, "Have I ever kept you from doing something to your cars?"
Reality check, "Clearly you have no idea what they cost?"
Her Reply, "The Hotrod is your baby. So, you might as well enjoy it."
Sooooooo, now I need to do some research . . .
What are the power-adder options available, and what are the expected gains?
I'm looking for complete drivability, here. Nothing crazy.
Those with Power-adders, I welcome your input, and the benefit of your experience.
My SSR: 2003 "Ilsa" True Duals w/Jones Glasspacks, Eibach Springs, Addco Sway Bars, 4.56 Gears
Agreed, but be careful adding a blower if you have true duals - the standard supercharger tune can't handle that, and it takes a dyno-tune (more $) to get the correct tune. I'm still working on that.
P.S. My story about getting the supercharger was similar, but there's no way that I will ever tell her the real cost of the mod.

And then you woke up, right?

Well I know I'm a rarity on the SSR Forum (probably in more way than one) but I love my 120 shot of nitrous. It's rare that I use it and all it takes is two buttons switched on. I have less than $800 in the setup including all the switch safety features. Going on my 5th year with it and have never encountered one single problem and my 04 truck still runs like new. My naturally aspirated HP is a little over 360 to the rear wheels ... I've never dynoed with the nitrous but I'm told it should be a true 120 add. Don't know and don't care but I sure love that punch. Always wanted the SC but I just couldn't part with that much money. Hoped over time the cost would come down but it never did. Now I've really gotten used to the nitrous

When do you use the nitrous? Quarter mile? Freeway? Driveway? Malt shop?
How often do you recharge the tanks?

Well you've asked questions I can't answer. Short answer is depends on how much you use it. I have used it getting on the interstate when I've had some high horse turd tail gating me...but very infrequent street driving. They usually follow me to ask what is in it when I do use it. Have used at the track many times. With worked motor and 4:56's I've got plenty of NA power to "show off" in a parking lot so just don't use the nitrous for that. Mainly good for all out performance to 70 MPH and above.
I installed a 112 Magnacharger on Hellvis with headers and a C6 throttle body in '07, with a 3" dual exhaust and 4.10 gears. HP add at the wheels was around 130 HP.
I later added an LEP cam.
In '08 Joe Delano and Hank Wolf swapped out the 112 Maggie for a 122 HH Maggie and a set of aftermarket heads, dyno'd at 589 RWHP, in October in Phoenix when the temps were around 95 degrees.
I haven't dyno'd in cooler weather, but I would expect to pick up 20-30 RWHP.
Bottom line, the SC and gears alone are the best bang for the buck in my opinion, with added performance at the push of the throttle.
I've driven Hellvis 17,000 miles problem free, to Colorado twice, Texas once and Southern and Northern California at least 20 times since the SC install.
