New 1/4 times

Last night I went out to NO problem raceway in belle rose, la for midnight madness. Tempeture was 79 degrees and humidity wasn't too bad. The ssr has a thunder racing cheatr cam, kooks lts and high flow cats, a yank 3000, k&n intake , and a dyno tune. It ran 14.80s pretty much all night it was very consistent. Best run read
R/t .636
60 ft 2.200
330 6.276
1/8 9.609
Mph 75.00
1000 ft 12.432
1/4 14.862
Mph 92.50

What should I do next , finish the exhaust with a magnaflow or 4.30 gears?

Nice times, X! Absolutely, the gears next and you'll probably pick up 5 tenths minimum.

xtreme: You didn't say if you had true dual exhaust or not. I'll assume you do. If you don't then I would certainly do that (duals). with the bigger cam you'll realize much more airflow. Corks in our 5.3 tend to be the intake and the exhaust areas. With true duals, a cam, free flowing filter, headers and if you're inclined better flowing heads you can easily approach another 100 hp. I know because that was my initial build on my 04...I did add a few other things too though roller rockers w/ higher ratio and computer tune. I pulled dyno before and after.

2.20 sec 60 ft time tells me you need slicks. I had the same problem with my '05 SC. A good 60 ft time should be 1.89 and lower.
With the 3000 stall, you're not quite at peak torque yet, but If you go with a lower gear, traction is just going to get worse with out drags.

Hey thanks for all the options I went with 4.30 gears and really you don't feel it unless u get on it. It's like a sleeper just like my cheatr cam. If I flash it it won't spin the tires even it will grab and spin swapping into 2nd and it's not much but it's going again. Now if I stall brake it it will stall up to 3600 and then shred the back tires into 3rd it's weird but I like it. With all the vht at the track it will grab if not do they make 20 inch drags if so part number please. The exhaust is going to be next I'm going to get the magnaflow 1 in 2 out till it gets a built tranny and a Maggie with heads. It's got alot left to it it's cheaper adding performance mods than building a show truck from ground up haha.

Just in case you needed another transmission comparison you may like one of these from

4L60E Performance Transmissions from PATC

They also have a new gear set that is supposed to provide 2/10- 4/10 better 1/4 times:

The Next Big Thing". PATC has developed a new 6 pinion planet gear set for 700R4 / 4L60E transmissions. This will be the biggest thing in 700R4 advancements in years. These will have a 2.84 to 1 first gear, 1.56 to 1 second gear, 1 to 1 third gear and .70 to 1 overdrive ratio.

There is a Transmission guy on our site too Greg Ducato? I think, he has done a few mods for SSR's.

Drag Radial Tires

I bought some 17 inch drag radial tires for my SSR a couple years ago, at the time the only size available was a 275/40-17 which was 25 inches tall, I put them on 17x8 aluminum wheels and got a best 60 foot time of 1.84 with an et of 13.21@103.8 now they make 28 inch tall 17 inch drag radials.

Where did you find 4.30's ??
As for the slicks, BFGOODRICH or Mickey Thompson makes a great 17'' OR now I think you can get an 18'' DRAG RADIAL

Hey extreme, glad you're up and running and also glad that I could help a little. I'll be waiting to see the new time slips!

Summit sells the Motive 4.30 for the 8.5" axle under part#MGR-GM10-430.

October 9th which is next Saturday I'm going back to no problem to see what she will run. Temps lately are in the mid 60s, so hopefully it stays that way. It feels stronger way stronger chirps in 2nd sometimes 3rd haha. Last time I went out I ran a cobalt ss didn't know if it was sc or turbo but first time I took him 2nd he took me. This time I hope I see him again cause I yanked him twice out the hole and he caught me at 60 this time though things will be different hopefully. Again thanks for the post.

Hey everyone

Hey everybody im gig to the track again tonight. It's 86 degrees right now, but it's supposed to be in the 60s to tonight here in la. This is the first time I'm running it at the track since the 4.30 gear change. I'm hoping 14.5 due to change of weather also. Next mod will be a magnaflow catback to try and let it breathe better so results will be posted later tonigt. Thanks

You're making progress, and you got the 14.5 you hoped for. Most importantly, you're having fun.
