Ran my SSR at Dragstrip
Woodburn Dragstrip near Salem,OR has Friday Test n Tune Sessions all summer opening at 3pm each Friday and going til about 830pm, took my SSR yesterday and was able to make 7 passes in about 90 minutes. Best pass was 13.36@103.8 mph, I know it is capable of better times but I am going to have to bite the bullet and take it to the Dyno Tune Shop to get the computer dialed in correctly to all the engine upgrades. I did manage to beat a Hemi powered Dodge Magnum wagon.

Good Job ! As soon as mine gets out of the Paint Shop I am going to run mine at the Famoso Drag Strip, just north of Bakersfield CA.
Well the Farmers have been cut back on water, due to the precious Smelt Fish up in the Sacramento Delta.
All Fallow Fields in our area. Lots of DUST.
We are going to a Rally in support of the Farmers in Tulare Co. next week.
What the hey you might see me on the News. There should be a large crowd there.

Scott, it appears that big daddy did it relatively cheap with his mods - gears, cold air, and dual exhaust! You could probably do it cheaper yet with a nitrous oxide system and custom tune.

When you lower your air pressure watch and don't go to low as you might just spin the wheel inside the tire, That really depends on how much traction you lose off the line, I wouldn't bring the rpm's up to high as it really won't help and you are there to have fun with stock parts, You don't want to break anything, The burnout if you want to but remember if you are new when you pull to the burnout box as they call it drive around the water and then back up to it with your back tires, They will have a guy backing you up as every track I have ever raced at does, They don't want you driving through the water as you get it on the track, When you light the staging lights, Light the first one and then move a hair at a time till the next one comes on, That will give you more room as not to red light, When you are staged just watch the bottom yellow light and mash your gas a little, Around 2,000 rpm's is fine and as soon as you see the bottom yellow go, Watch your rpm's down the track and shift the same as the fastest don't always win, Look at your time slip and check your R/t you want a .0xx most mine are .002-.005 if it is a little high roll into the staging light more if it a lot go up the the next yellow, Just have fun, If I remember mine use to be 4880 with me and full tank of gas in it, Use 93 or 94 octane if that is what your engine is tuned for if not use what ever your timing table is set for, All I can think of right now

97 octane fuel in a 5.3 is really a waste of money, unless you've had a custom tune with a VERY aggressive timing table modification. At 9.5 - 1 compression the LM4 just doesn't demand that high of an octane #. Now the LS-2 with 10.9 - 1 compression could possibly benefit from the higher rated fuel, in that it would keep the knock sensors from kicking the timing back in most cases.

Thanks Double L, thanks for the tips. ran my 6 speed, spun lots. then spun more cause its so much fun!! Mine weighs 4920 with 1/4 tank and me. I did not do a water burnout, I just tried to drive around the water. Leaving on green does not help either. ha ha 14.7 @ 97

Hey Club, that's a good start! You can try "short shifting" in the bottom gears if you're spinning a lot. Just shift a lot sooner than normal and get into a gear that has traction. As far as leaving on the green, it doesn't influence your ET at all, but will certainly lose you some rounds. Try counting the lights down out loud. One and Two and Three with the AND being the important part. With a heavy car on street tires the 2nd AND should give you a pretty decent light. Then to fine tune it further, you can leave on the A or D. Good Luck and have Fun!
