Rear end gear ratio 06 vs. 05 six speeds
Per Jim Gnitecki's SSR Experience book 2006 six speed SSR's have different gear ratios than 2005's except in 4th gear.
So I think this means that a 2006 - 6 speed has the equivalent of about a 4.25 ratio rear end compared to a 2005 - 6 speed's 3.73 rear gear, except in 4th gear. So changing rear end gears in 06's gives a totally different result than in a 2005. Am I missing something?

I don't believe that there were different transmissions used. My 05 ( built in March of 05 ) has the 3.01 first gear trans in it. I manually checked 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and reverse because Wow factor was going through a lot of work to compile Technical Specifications for all the years, and he needed trans. gear ratios. If you do a search for Technical Specifications all the info is there. As far as the final drive ratio, it's 3.73 in 4th, 3.13 in 5th, and 2.13 in 6th.

Found a post from a few years ago that indicates 05 and 06 6 speeds ratios are in fact the same. Some data put out by GM gave the Corvette ratios for the SSR in error. Sorry for starting the post.

No problem paulcars, GM went out of their way to have a stronger trans. built for the SSR. It's got the largest output shaft diameter of any I've seen. The Viper output shaft is the upgrade for all the stock T56s and the SSR output is even larger than that. The ratio package was also carefully chosen, that's why I'm quite certain only one trans. was used. The low 1st and 2nd gears were considered very important to get the 4800# moving with mileage type rear end gears.
