Rev Limiter?

As I mentioned in my post about Ilsa's autocross this weekend, her rev limiter kicked in at the end of a short straight-away while she was locked in first gear. I was too busy to check the RPM at the time. I thought that she was good-to-go until the RPM's got over 6500 at which time the engine would shut down.

She has minor alterations including a Diablo performance tune.

What's with a rev limiter on an SSR?

Dave

My 05 definitely has a limiter that hits hard @ 6300 rpm. With my custom tune I had it bumped to 6800. The LM4s have a lighter rate valve spring in them so I would imagine the limiter would be set lower. Personally, I would think 6000 would be the safe ceiling for that engine.

Bumped into mine once or twice

I've found the rev limiter a couple times. Usually when I'm doing something stupid. I don't think it cuts fuel at all........ I think it starts dropping cylinders by cutting out the ignition..... My rev limiter has been moved out to 6500 because my shift points have been moved up to 6300.

I should think that killing the spark to selected cylinders would really screw with the cats. Wouldn't it be just as easy to kill injectors?
