Supercharger/headers

Short question: If an early R is supercharged, does it also need headers?

The performance expert who is installing my supercharger says that headers are definitely needed so that horsepower is not lost from exhaust backing up (or something like that). Another hot rodder I spoke to says that this is not always the case - that sometimes the engine needs the back pressure to keep the combustion accurate.

What do you experts say?

Personal opinion, install headers. They breath better.

That said, hdflstf installed a ''Charger on his '05, and is still running stock manifolds.

The stock boost level is fine with the exhaust manifolds the way they are. Headers will better scavenge the exhaust gasses and heat from the engine. The headers will always give you more power. At the stock or close to boost levels it is not needed yet.

I agree with Joe, but, if you are going to go to the Max with the boost....(stomach)
It's like the yin and the yang. You'll need bigger intake system (mouth) and exhaust (butt) to balance out the system to make it work properly. What you do to one end, you have to do to the other. That being said, you also have the question of "where" and how to create your back-pressure......
Chat with Joe about your "I wants", he'll always steer you in the Right Direction.....

I know with my Harley truck, when I installed the headers I lost 1 lb of boost.
