Tow/spare ? & trans/gear vendor ?

Will an SSR with the tow hitch setup allow the spare tire setup to work?

Has anyone used a gear vendor unit with the SSR auto? 4:56 gears and the od of a 6 speed? What auto trans does the SSR have?

The 2003 and 2004 models use a 4L60E, the 2005 and 2006 use a slightly stronger version of the same trans called the 4L65E. It would certainly be possible to use a 4.56 and Gear Vendors overdrive, it would give you the same rpm at 70mph as the stock trans and gears. If you want better acceleration from a rest, the simpler and far less expensive solution is to use a higher stall torque converter and leave the stock 3.73's alone.

I like that thought too. I just sold my 08 full-size truck that had 3.73's behind the 6.0. After tuning, exhaust, and a cai it dropped from 16.3 to 15.2 and picked up 5 mph. I recently installed a 2800 stall convertor which dropped it to 14.4 and it picked up another 3 mph with further tuning.

Mpg on the road did not change much, but around town dropped almost 2 mpg.

I liked the cruise rpm of the stick on my former 05 SSR, and the mpg was close to 25. Just thinking out loud how to get there with an auto. I would prefer the stick, but may have a chance to buy an auto SSR fairly reasonable.

Mike's spare tire set-up won't interfere with the trailer hitch.
