Tuner for 410 rear gear
I've read a bunch of old posts saying that a microtuner cannot make speedo correct for a rear gear change (going to 410). Are the newer tuners able to do that?
I don't want to buy ine if it will not make the speedo correct with the 410.
Thanks,
PUG

I have an '05 auto and a new Predator. It will not change the transmission control modulator for a gear or tire change. I went on their site, posted the question, moderator said it will not support that change. You will have to go to a custom tuner or send your modulator to one that has the software to do it, such as LS2 Edit.
I was quoted $800 for the gears and labor. Fluids and other supplies extra. Plus $200 to flash the tcm.

predator will not correct the speedo, go with 4.56 gears, well worth it!!
i paid $ 700 or so a couple years back
go with the oem gears too!
you'll have to get your computer re-flashed to correct the speedo.

Well I can tell you I am pretty stuck on the 410 rear. I don't want to go too low. I have read many posts saying you get to WOT in 1st gear really quickly with the 456. As silly as it sounds, if I really do not feel that the 410's have done enough, I will try the 456 at that point. I was just hoping that there was a "Plug and Play" microprocessor to make my speedo correct.
Prices I am hearing are great because the best price I can find on the Motive gears is $420 for the gears and bearing kit. I believe I will have the garage order the gears just for the warranty factor.
Still welcoming any/all advice and comments!!
Thanks,
PUG

Bearing kit? I don't recall any bearing kit when I change over to 4.10

I wanted to ask about that too! There is a Bearing/Shim kit that you can get that I do not know if you need. The kit is actually more than the gears. The Motive gears are $193.33 and the Timkin Bearing kit is $216.10.
As I have stated, this is a learning process for me as well...

I have an '05 auto with the 410 GM gears, it was a major improvement, I had the LS2 Edit done, but they never got my speedo correct. faster I go more it's off. I'm waiting when I get my new cam installed Then I'll get it re-tuned. For now I cross refrence my speed with my Garmin.
I do highly recomend the 410, Yank 3000 torque converter and the Corvette servo. They are inexpensive installs and will make a world of difference. Most bang for your buck, so to speak. Just my 2 cents.

Tweety... I see you are from NJ. If you want speedo correct (and a great tune) talk to Bryan Herter at Pcmforless
My 410's are now installed and I am running his tune and loving it. He can also tune for your cam, which is a move I am considering for the future...just wanted to let you know.
Good luck,
PUG

Actually his home is in PA (still a pretty good drive for you, but you can ship your PCM to him, have it programmed and he'll ship it back.
That may be a little more of a challenge with the cam, but he's a sharp guy (real motorhead too!!) Might be worth your while.
In any event, just my $.02...He can certainly make the speedo correct as well.
Good Luck,
PUG
