Whats a n inexpensive way to improve gas mileage?

Have a 04 w/5.3 automatic . sticker says 16/19 & I'm averageing 16 .23mpg with 35 % city & 65 % highway on name brand regular fuel. Tires are properly inflated & no jack rabbit starts. Just over 2,000 miles. Will syntetic oil improve the mileage?

Mileage improvement

Tips for better gas mileage,

1. DON'T DRIVE IT

2. Let your wife drive it

3. Make it a garage queen, and only drive it when the temperature is over 65 degrees (life's too short)

4. Close your eyes when your at the pump and don't look at the total cost to fill it up

And the last way to get the best mileage, SELL IT !

DRIVE THE DAMN THING AND HAVE FUN

There might be a thread on this.
Anyway. No Jack rabbit starts. Over inflate tires slightly. Keep engine properly tuned.

Youre doing fine...I'm lucky to get 14.9 in atown of 50K after moving from a city of %+million. in fact before I put the K&N on it, I was at12.9-13.1 under 50 mph, average 30mph driven. I did install the 44 muffler from Flowmaster and not sure if that did anything, but it sounds Great!.
Have fun and and stay Safe!

Wow! I get between 10 and 12 in town with a heavy foot. Love to hear it roar. Mods are and not limited to 4:56 gears, stainless steel works headers, 2 1/2" duels,K&N, screen delete, opened up the air box, and a HP tune. Running 70 on the E-way for any length of time a respectful 17 to 18.

The hiway driving has to be at speed to work in your favor. I was at 17.1 avg drove 40 miles in stop and roll traffic on the freeway for two + hours and avg mpg went to 16. The next day I burned a nearly full tank of gas on the Cold Spring run with lots of good speed and some fair hills to climb and when I got home my avg mpg was reading 17.8. Granted this is a 2006 6L but it just shows that it wants to stretch it's legs.
