Wheel Shake at the Drag strip

Give this a shot, I took my 04 SSR to the strip the other day even though it needs the tune worked on bad and trying to get the fuel air right, It was hot and just wanted to go out and make a run, It pulled pretty good all the way through and run 11.63 at 117, Fuel air was 12.1 to 12.8, The guy that was suppose to bring my tuner didn't show up so had to go with what I had, I let it set for a little while and went back out and run a 11.60 at 118 same fuel air, My 60 ft was a 1.61 and 0-60 3.8 sec., 1/8 mile 7.30 at 98, I let it set longer and run a 11.58 at 119 but I though I spun the tires a little, Have monster M&H 17'' drag radials, So I parked it till time to race and went to the line and got wheel shake pretty bad that slowed me down to 12.00 at 117 but the other guy red lighted, On the next run I come off the line easy and then it felt like it was going to shake the truck apart, I don't know, To much power? The rear end? Rear shocks and do they make any better than come on it?, I have BMR adjustable control arm top and bottom, That is all I can think of right off hand..

Well LL, it sounds like you're about to the limits of the stock suspension. From your post it sounds like you're still running the stock Bilsteins? If so you'd probably really benefit from a pair of double adjustable shocks, at least on the rear. Being able to control the rate of chassis separation, through adjustable rebound valving, is very helpful for controlling wheel hop. Also, being that the SSR comes with a 4 link from the factory, fabricating some upper adjustable brackets would allow you to change the instant center to soften the hit somewhat. Your adjustable BMR bars are great for what they do, set pinion angle and firmly locate the housing, but the adjustable top brackets would allow additional chassis fine tuning. Of course it could be something simple like a bad shock, excessive tire pressure, or the tires just plain getting old and hard! I don't know about your track, but our home track preps the starting line prior to eliminations? Suddenly, the traction changes dramatically from the previous time runs! I don't know if you ever video tape your launches, but sometimes that can greatly help in troubleshooting.

Well Topspin that is what me and a friend was talking about, The track was good, and I was running 24-26 pounds of air in the M&H's, The tires are new, It is going to pick up as the air gets better and we get the tune right, First time that has happen the tire shake, It has a Moser rear end with a locker and 34 spines, It is hitting the back pretty hard when I take off and a friend said he could see day light under one of the front tires, Also the breaks are not the best, When I cross the line on the dash it goes past the 120 mph and I know I have a pretty good run, I stayed in it just a touch longer and it went past the 130 and it took all the shut down to get the thing stopped, Thanks for the reply

kw double adjsutable coilovers front with the kw doubles in rear. i 60 foot 1.59-1.60 consitant and only thing else im running is the Spohn rear items. If your running the adjustable upper/lower BMR then set the pinion angle to -2. It should hook fine granted you change it up a little.

Also in rear the kw springs with the airlift bags inside help a lot at the track and the M&H tires dont need to run below 20 psi they should hook fine.

I ran a 7.35@94 cam/100 shot and converter (long tubes also) Same suspension you have in your truck I have in mine. Stock motor (295 45 17 mt drag rads)

Your still running the stock ls1 on a what 150 shot to run those times? I bet if you did a built motor with a tvs2300 would be a lot faster

On a side note you should install the LC32 crossmember and a rear sump oil pan to prevent oil starvation on launch. The rod bearings will thank you.

It has the LC32 cross member and rear sump Corvette pan, I was going over it in my mind and even though I have a stage 5 RPM built 4L65 with every billet part made and PI 2800 3 disk lockup converter could it be something I am not looking at and be in the tranny, The week before I was running it working on the tune, Waiting on the dyno, I backed up to do my burnout the way I always do held the break till it shifts to 2nd. and then let go of the break and nailed it, Well one time it was like you reached down and kick it to neutral, So you have the tires spinning at close to or over 100 mph and come to a dead stop just for a micro second, Truck jerked sideways and I thought I broke the rear end but it did fine the rest of the night just thought the locker let go and then locked back, I am thinking that might be tied in to it, Or am I just thinking to much and just the rear shocks or I just over powered the track on two runs? The truck is built over kill on everything but hp and racing means broken parts
