4th of July
This is getting to be an annual SSR event
From Wayne LeDu
Hi,
I will again this year participate in the 4th of July Parade in Lindale Park. This year, the city wants a vehicle count and they are trying to work on the lineup. If anyone would like to join in, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Lindale Park is a subdivision just inside the loop. It is bordered by 610, Irvington Blvd., Fulton and Calvacade. The homes are all brick homes built in the 40’s or 50’s. The parade goes down Irvington Blvd. We normally meet at my house (716 Kelley St., directly behind the Shell gas station at 610 and Irvington) and then proceed to line up. The parade normally starts at 10 AM. It is fairly small and local, but it draws out a lot of people. I think this is the 10th year, my 4th year. This will be the 3rd year that we had a train of SSR's.
I work for Knapp Chevrolet and do it to promote myself and Knapp in a positive manner. We are allowed to throw candy. It is usually a good time for everyone, even if it rains like it did last year.
Afterward, we normally head to Gabby’s (Shepard, just north of 610) and have some lunch.
My SSR: Smokin' Asphalt w/Black Running Boards. The "Batmobile"
I will be there with the now famous "Batmobile". This is a very easy event to participate in and you still have the rest of the day free to do other things. It is a very quaint parade with lots of kids and neighbors watching and cheering us on. The SSR's are very popular at this event each year.

Well the Lindale parade keeps getting bigger - Corvettes, 55-65 Chevy's, older pickups, Harleys, some of those Ford upstarts, and about 15 of the "Art Car" vehicles. Great time!!

The only downer - Pfisterlevel's Batmobile succombed to the dreaded Fan Monster in the middle of the parade and had to pull over to the side. He made it out in time for the run to the Barbecue joint.

While enjoying the photos I couldnt help but think of the one and only, original, mother of all big chickens in Marietta, GA. This is a landmark in GA. Its about 45 minutes from where I am from in GA. The building under the chicken has been remodeled but the big chicken has always been there.
Its one of those landmarks where you say, its "before the big chicken, its past the big chicken, turn right at the big chicken, turn left at the big chicken". The chickens eyeballs and beak used to move, not sure if they still do.
Sorry for the hi-jack, just got nostalgic and homesick there for a minute. If you live in GA, you know the big chicken.
