Question Bandsaw

Who in the North Houston, Houston area has a band saw that is plumb and will cut through this burle? I need 3/4 X 3/4 X 5 inch blanks for making pens. I will pay for the cuts, or make you a pen from one of the blanks.

too bad you are in Texas. I have a 32 inch wood cutting bandsaw.
Is that Walnut?
I still have a few planks of walnut left from my grandmothers house. She was going to sell her house and told me that she knew the walnut was worth a lot of money, cause her neighbor's son kept offering her $1000 to cut down her trees. She had 12 of them on her lot and told me she figured if he was offering her $1000 to cut all 12, They must be worth a hell of a lot more. I told her I would cut one down and see what we could get from it. I cut a dead one down and sawed it up and gave her $3000 and kept 3 choice planks. That was in 83. I have 2pcs left about 3 feet by 1 1/2 ft by 2 inches thick left. I love making things out of walnut.

I have a nice, well I have a broken old but used to be nice. Awh heck I loaned it to a friend and he loaded it up into his Pickup to bring it home and he broke the Table Mountings off the nice stand up 5' tall bandSaw. He say's he knows where there is another one just like it and he will get that one to replace the one he broke. That was two years ago. So sorry John, I am going to replace this one the cost is around $250.00 so it's not that expensive to replace.

Heh, heh, I think it might be best to take it to a local exotic dealer, or buy an expensive band saw from SSRusty.

This one can be fixed I just have to make new Table pivoting Mounts out of Steel Pipe. The broken ones are made of Pot Metal. If they were Cast Iron I could still repair them. I just have had other things to do with my Welders. Mostly 40 Ford Frame Building. When I get the Time and I am healed up I'll Kick butt on some things I should have aready completed.

Okay, none of that stuff for me. Are you making public appearances?, or how severe is the damage? Come to think, it really is none of my business, sure hasn't affected your wit.

I have been off the treatments for about 3 days now I have a few holes in me, but I am healing. I go back to the Doctor this coming WED, I look much better, so I think I will go to Tehachapi tomorrow morning and have Breakfast with my Bro. If they don't throw me out, I will have breakfast with m/c hauler, Dave and Aced17, Joe. SSR owners in Bakersfield. Maybe Tuesday before Doctor Day.

John - how big is the original burl?? I can handle the size of the finished product, but might have to cut the burl down a bit.

John,
Just saw this. I believe we have an 18" bandsaw in the store's shop. If so, it will easily handle that stick.

I'll bet Wendell (store mgr) will help you cut this down. I'll give him a call today and let you know.
