Monday, January 18, DFW Airport
As you know Monday is a holiday for most and I am asking/inviting you to join me in greeting our returning service men and women on Monday morning at DFW. Monday morning, a contingent of troops will be returning from the Middle East . Please consider coming out and being part of a thank you greeting and letting them know that we care and appreciate their service.
I am going with a group I am a member of and thought to extend the invitation to the Texas Fanatics. I will warn you that this can be an emotional moment but it will be somethingyou and the troops will remember.
Details are as follows:
Monday, January 18
The troop flight will arrive at Terminal D, Gate 22 sometime between 7am-9am.
We plan to arrive at 7am and wait for them in the terminal area.
The airport will provide Free Parking for those who come out. You’ll be able to get a voucher in the terminal before you leave. Also, make sure you take your TollTag off your windshield so you don’t get charged. Park in the 2-hour parking area.
Feel free to make a sign and bring it with you. The airport has flags to hand out but they would like us to return them afterwards or you can bring your own. Bottled water is always appreciated. Do not bring any regular helium balloons, only Mylar-type balloons.
If anyone would like to make goodie bags they are welcome but please no home baked items. Phone cards, gum, or little snacks work best.
This is something that you could do with your children. It’s up to us to show them the true meaning of patriotism.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need more information. Also, feel free to tell a friend and invite others.
Thank you in advance,
Michael

I'm sure we will. There is always a few hundred people or better standing and waiting for the flights to come in.
I bet there is a place in your area that also has troops that fly in on a daily basis and you could drive a couple of hours and welcome them back. After all, I am willing to bet they flew a hell of a lot longer to get there.
From Pasadena its only 31 minutes to LAX.

I'll check that out. What organization is handling your event? Maybe they have something organized here as well and I could be involved in that rather than just hanging out at the airport waiting (possibly in the wrong location) for a plane load of military.

Focks, I will be back from Houston so I Will meet you there, and we have a local guy coming back from his 1 year tour and we are planning a neighborhood parade if you want to come by for that, I will let you know the time and details.
Michael.......................thanks for posting this wonderful information. I followed your link and have checked into volunteering at the USO at the Ontario Airport. When I hear back from them, I will let you know how I will be able to help at their airport facility.
I suppose I could have asked the next time I get into the American Legion Post, but this was an easier, and likely more informative choice. I also beloing to a Navy League Squadron locally but we are still busy unravelling from the New Year and getting ready to decommission a Submarine.
Thanks for the link.
