Welcome aboard Waldo-Jr from Las Vegas. Check the forum for the state of Texas, they are always doing something. You may want to contact BRYERS by PM. He can give you all the information you will ever need.

Welcome from Southern California. You will love this family and get lots of answers to any questions you might have. I would say you need to change your mind and plan to drive it a lot, because you will love it. Check out the National Forum for the Route 66 Rally in Flagstaff in Sept 2011 and the Laughlin Rally in Nevada in January 2011. You will meet lots of us at both of those. There is also a Rally planned in MI in Aug 2011 for the 5th anniversary of the end of production. Don't restrict yourself to Texas.

Welcome to the South Texas SSR group. We're certainly unofficial but we get together on a regular basis and just have some fun. Been pretty dormant lately - to hot!! But we should crank up an event or two here soon. PM me with your email address and I'll put you on the blast list.
I host bi-monthly Mod-Days at my home in The Woodlands, TX.
Any Pointers or Gatchas for the newbie ?
Interesting fact the city that Waldo lives in actually has the word "The" in it's name. The Woodlands as Waldo wrote not the Woodlands, Welcome from the opposite side of Houston, Clear Lake City.
As pointers go
After you start the top operation you no longer need to be stopped. Good for top operation in slow traffic or just to get even more jaws to drop.

Mostly, Mod-Days are about BBQ & Bull-$hit.
However, we do manage to install Performance Mods, too, as well as the usual preventative maintenance. We have even done an engine swap, or two, or three. . .
Really, just about anything mechanically that you have in mind.
The next session is scheduled for 16 October. Drop me a line if you'ld like to stop by . . .

What goes on at the bi-monthly Mod-Days? cookies?
But take fair warning that the operative word here is SLOW Because if you go too fast it will stop operating until you stop again and put foot on the brake. It is also possible to bend the hinges with the force developed by the air if you go too fast with the cover open.

Yesterday, I procured a fully loaded Smokin' Asphalt 2005 SSR with only 14k miles. It won't be a daily driver . . .

Any local Gatherings for SSR owners.
Waldo Aka Mike invited me to his Mod-day, he has a real man cave of a garage with every tool you might ever need and a bunch of good ole wrench turning friends. While I was there a Mustang had lowering springs installed and some repairs and mods on two super charged grand prix. I had spent hours trying to remove the front bow tie in my '10 Camaro i told Mike my problem and he had it off in 10 seconds. Met some great guys and had some fantastic Texas barbecue.
