I don't see why we can't get together before June of '09. That was not the intent of the International event, to halt other events. Why not continue to enjoy our SSRs as we wait for another year?

Just my two cents....

John

Pfisterlevel and I talked about this at the Haak Winery run. With a lot of the volunteer resources being directed at the '09 meeting, we'd (John and I) would like to volunteer to set up an October date in F'burg (Hat Contest included, of course). We'll need some help, so PM us or post your willingness to get involved.

Once we get past the July 4th weekend, we will start putting this thing together. Last time we stayed at the new Hampton Inn and it was a great place to have everyone at one place at the same time. It is very likely that we will want to do that again.

Have a Safe 4th of July !!!!

We are considering either the first or last weekend of Oct. Houtex will post something soon. All help will be greatly appreciated. Give us your input on which weekend works best.

We'll be in touch!!

Well John and John got with some other folks at both the Haak Winery Run and the Lindale 4th of July parade. Seems there's some conflicts in the middle weeks of October and the last weekend is Halloween which, while it could be a great costume addition to the hat contest, has the potential of keeping folks with kids and grandkids away from the event. We came up with the weekend of Oct 3,4,5.

Pfisterlevel's checking the hotel rates and availability for the Hampton Inn and we'll be reaching out to those who live closer. For some recommendations for the Saturday night dinner. We're probably going with the Mexican Restaurant across from the Hampton for Friday night again.

We should have something to sign with next week.

The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area looks like a good Saturday cruise ( that's not the same one as last year, right??).

Stay tuned.
party

Since I planned the Durango run to attend, I doubt I would do F'burg this year or at least not in Oct. Besides this year I will have 2 boys playing Football and I think their season runs til the end of Oct and playoffs being in Nov. I can't wait to see the hats though

Maybe this link will help you. the Inn Of Barrons Creek is only a couple of blocks off the main street but they have a nice courtyard area for hanging out depending on your group size the Hangar Hotel is also cool with a nice Old Style Diner complete with black and white checkered floors
