OTC Barbecue
A little advance notice.. The Offshore Technology Conference includes a BBQ cookoff at the Sam Houston Race Track on 4/26 and 4/27. One of my vendors has a barbecue team and he's always had a Harley club stage a parade into his cooksite on Friday morning. Some of you older members may remember a picture posting of my truck leading (briefly) the Harleys one year.
This year he's asked me if we could get several SSR's to parade in and then stay around his cooksite for a while. Of course this includes free bodacious barbecue. It's a Friday, so it will involve some schedule rearranging. Y'all come now, ya hear.

"Ride-in" a bit modified
Finally got some more definite info on the OTC barbecue - seems there might be a problem with a ride-in - here's what I got from Mike Lee
John,
Here is the deal with the ride in. The cook-off is hesitant with the SSR due to the size of the vehicles. They will not allow them to ride in like the motorcycles have done. The only thing I can do is have you and your guys a parking permit as we have given you in the past and get ya to all park together as close as possible, however I cannot guarantee the exact spot. I think the best thing to do here is for me to give you and your local guys a parking pass and I will try to save some front row spots. Sorry I have not gotten back to you on this but it has been a little hectic with our new building and getting ready to move.
Thanks,
Mike
It still gets you into the cookoff - we can stage a short run to the location and then hang out at Mike's booth or tour the rest. Let me know if you're still up for it. I see us meeting up at about 9:00 AM on that Friday morning.

So far I have William and Pfisterlevel confirmed for this. PLEASE let me know if you want to join in - I have to give them a number for parking passes pretty soon - we'll pick a place close to the racetrack to meet and start our mini-cruise to the barbecue.

Meet up
We'll meet at the San Antonio Credit Union parking lot (SACU) at the Fallbrook exit on the Sam Houston Tollway. It's just an exit before the racetrack. Looks like William, Skip2004 and RAL 04 #5907 and me. Maybe HOTSSR too - haven't heard from him. Let's meet there at 9:30 AM Friday morning. With 4-5 trucks - we might be able to sneak them right into Mike's barbecue booth - he'd love that.

A little light on turnout - just William and I, but we tried to keep up y'all's share of the free beer, barbecue, crawfish, margaritas, and scantily clad ladies. It was a dark and dirty job but somebody had to do it.

Man, it's great to know that you have friends to take up the slack! Way to go!
