Is just going to be Fredericksburg, Texas?
As much fun as it would be to drive to Austin and all over the hill country, my wife and I were thinking just going to Fredricksburg, would be a nice relaxing weekend.
I understand that some people want to cruise the hill country also. Feel free to start a discussion on that, as well.

Depending on size of group should we just get a B&B or go for hotel.

Naturally, depending on the size that wants to go, a hotel may be the better route, but if it is a small group,.. well we have multiple choices

B&B Lists

Oh---you beat me my 10 minutes. I was just going to start a thread about this trip. I have placed calls into several hotels waiting for information on any possible group rates. This would be a fun trip. That week-end is also Trade days which would be neat for shopping at the Sunday Farms.

Everyone needs to plan now. This will be a great trip and a great time of the year to be in the hill country and do some shopping, visiting, cruising and sight seeing.
You are close to Enchanted Rock, Luckenbach, Wildseed Farms, and many wineries.

Where is the Hanger Hotel, in relation to Fredricksburg, Tx. I am of the mindset that staying in town is what makes this trip special. Call me crazy, but I am not to sure about the ambiance of staying at the airport, When I can stay in the town of Fredricksburg.

Thanks for the input Nelson and OP. Not sure what others may decide, I know for myself, my wife would be thrilled, if I left my lap top at home. So whether I have internet access or not is not going to be a problem.

It sounds like the Comfort Inn may be the best bet if everyone wants to stay together, otherwise we can all split up in different B & B'S and agree to meet for meals, and exploration of the stores.

We are thinking about stayng in a B&B. It would be great if we could all stay near each other, but that may not be the case. Besides the impression of a private getaway, in a B&B, coupled with getting together wth friends for meals and shopping, might be a much better idea all around. At least that way we sooth the beast in all of us, for the fellowship of the SSRFanatcs, and our spouses who want to feel just as necessary.

What is the problem with this hotel that you keep talking about?
Inform us as to the problems so we will know.
This might help us in making a decision.

Op, maybe you can give us some suggestions on some local (in town) B&B's that are not far from each other, so we can more easily hook up during the day.

Well have gone ahead and made reservations for ths weekend at

The Sunday House
501 E. Main St.
Fredericksburg, TX 78624
830-997-4484 800-274-3762

Currently they have plenty of smoking and non-smoking rooms. However they also entoned that the weekend we ahve chosen is a big weekend becasue it is "Trade Days. I guess it is a pretty big deal. So if you are thinking of going you might want to make those reservations sooner then later. Cancellations can be made up until 24 hours prior to arrival.

It is an October run, but as the thread has mentioned it s a bg weekend there. It is "Fredericksburg Trade Days at Sunday Farms" and this is a pretty big deal in this town, also there are 3 big weddings taking place that weekend so the hotels are starting to fill up. I just wanted to make sure we had a place to throw our bags.

If you want to wait and try to get rooms later, then that will be your decision. I didn't want to take a chance.
