I was in school for work in Irving, TX once and they sent us back to the motel early, cancelled class, because there was a rain storm and the thread of freezing. All of us thought they were kidding but we went because the instructors all left. That afternoon it hailed and in the morning the parking lot was a sheet of ice (more than an iinch thick) and all the cars were frozen in. It had a bit of a slope down from the road and those who managed to free their cars from the ice found they were unable to climb the hill.

My grandkids now live in Haslet, TX (just NW of Fort Worth). My little grandson Parker prayed for snow the other night and then woke up to find about 1 1/2 inches of the white stuff outside. He was so happy! He said that God really does control the weather and his prayers were answered!
We are driving there for Christmas again this year. I hope it's a better drive than last year. Our second day of driving was in dense fog with crazy drivers for 11 1/2 hours. On the way back we hit a white-out blizzard the second day in SD and luckily found a place to pull off for a couple of hours using the GPS.

Those little kids mean the world to me. This evening my wife and I were serenaded over the speaker phone by a little girl's voice singing us Christmas carols. We both clapped and were yelling Yay! Anabelle told us that we should be saying Bravo! Bravo! while she takes a bow. That's our little Princess!
Too bad they live 1200 miles from Grandpa and Grandma. It's been almost a year since we have had any hugs. Little Olivia was a baby last year and now she's walking and starting to try to talk.
But, I guess their mom and dad figured making more money elsewhere was worth it. It's hard to put a price on having loving grandparents around while growing up.

I know; mine were in OK and I only saw them each twice. They were gone by the time I was a Teenager. So I kept in touch through letters. My Full Bloods wrote Letters like they spoke. I understood every word. I kept those Letters. My G.Parents are all buried in OK.

That's the only way you can get me out in that white stuff anymore I'd do anything for him
I'm sure the kids in Texas are extremely happy about the weather
yeah, gatta love texas and it's mood swing weather. I try not to drive when there is ice, some people in Texas dont even know how to drive in rain, much less on ice or snow. I did enjoy the snow yesterday, but it didn't stick for me.

Happens about every 4-5 years or so. I remember back in the 80's we had about 3-4 inches that stuck around awhile. The #1 selling item in town was film. The Walgreens around the corner from me completely sold out. Obviously before digital.

Last December,2008, just not this early in December.
From a local paper...
Some weather records were broken Friday as snow fell on the Houston Region. It was the earliest recorded snowfall on record. The overnight low was 27 degrees. That also tied a record set back in 1897.
