Texas Stormy weather

Oh man today we had 4 hours of torrential rains. inches and inches turned into feet. Creeks overflowing, streets flooded, cars getting stuck

I couldn't take Nick to school our normal way (121 north/east) construction and rain make muddy roads impossible to pass, so we headed off on one of my many alternative routes. We almost got stuck in 1 1/2 feet of water just run off from the fields onto the road, but it got worse, the water was up to the bottom of the Tahoe's door and there was a creek and I know if we had been just a few more minutes there the water was going to come over the road,

I had my window down signaling people to turn around and there was a purple SSR I hope they stopped because the only side street had already trapped several cars and Nick was starting to panic. I finally got in the opposite lane and stopped the mustang and told him he wouldn't make it through he better turn around. Very scary
it was only 65 degrees after the rains stopped about 10:00

Yep, pretty nasty here today. Had to take Bob in for his wrist surgery at 6a.m. Got home just before it hit again.

I took some pictures of our creek. We are one house away from it, but this morning it was almost halfway to our door. Normally it is 18 - 20 ft. lower adn every bit of 100 ft. away. But not this morning. The two bridges were covered by 1/2 to 1 foot. Surf was up definitely.

A couple are blurry but that was before I got it turned to the right filter.

The first two are looking off my front porch.

Here is a shot of one of the bridges before they opened it.. (the water had receded considerably by then) and after.

Amazing pictures. You always see people on TV say the water just came up all of the sudden and I felt like that this morning. a couple of shorter cars had water half way up their doors. Very scary. This was a street that I just wouldn't have thought of flooding like that

We are supposed to get another wave of rain tonight

What's really bizarre is that I drove to work with the top down. Got to the office and it started pouring about 5 min after I got there. There were stars out when I left the house

We'll take some...

We are in our worst drought in over 90 years. Some say it's the worst ever. Most of Georgia and Alabama have been in a Total outdoor water ban since the middle of May. The national news have been doing coverage in Atlanta today showing how bad the area's lakes are.

Hope none of you float away or have and damage. We'll take the rain over here.

Rain

The 2003 we had just purchased was due to be delivered via flat bed this afternoon and it started to rain HEAVY. We had not heard from the driver all day and wondered what was going to happen. He finally called from IHOP in Conroe and I met him to trade my GMC Sierra for the SSR. He had gone through three accident sites on Hwy 45 from Dallas to Conroe. I have my SSR and am in heaven. But the RAIN was bad. As soon as we took delivery we put it into the garage and dried the little baby off with soft towels, soft music, candle lights and a promise to return tomorrow. Tomorrow we take it in for personalized plates.

Be careful what you wish for! Last year we were in the boat you're in today. Lakes were virtually dried up.

When I got my plates there was no need to take it in anywhere. You just get a form and fill out the info and send them $40 with your selections and wait about a month till the local office notifies you to come in. Then you surrender your regular plates for the new ones (carry your insurance card.)

Thank you. I downloaded the application off the website and am going to do what you suggested and send the money in. We will wait to see.
