Reason: ADDITION INFORMATION
I spoke to Don Rose Ferrari Toy Drive organizer today. He passed on the following update.
If you are an aviation buff you will want to make this run, because if you have not figured it out already we will be on a Military Base! The facility that we will be at has an acre plus of parking for our cars-when lined up in a semi-circle. The demonstration that the guys will give us is interactive so you are going to be on/in a machine with the actual crew that operates it. One request that they had was-would it be possible for the some of the guys to get a ride in the cars and I said I did not think this was a problem. So if you think you might want to give a soldier a ride in your car plan on doing so. The details of this are currently being worked out.
Also he said the toy run/cruise will be about 1 hr 15 min long, will have a police escort, and has 112 vehicles + 1 SSR (mine) as of today. He is hoping to get 125 toll cars/trucks for this toy drive. Comments?

Reason: additional information
Bump. this event is tomorrow morning. It is for a good cause, easy to find, we will be chasing the police (instead of other way), neat aircraft, and some military personnel get a Christmas ride.
Make sure that you all have a full tank of gas and that you check the air in your tires.
At this point I am not sure exactly how we will launch you guys but probably in groups of 20. (There is no way I could release all of you simultaneously on the poor unspecting drivers in Ft. Worth-they would be traumatized for life.) If so that is 7 flytes currently-so we will need to launch the 1st flyte at 9:30AM. It takes 1HR and 38 minutes to do the long route and 1HR and 30 minutes to do the short route at the posted speed limit. That will put the first flyte at the staging area about 11AM and the last flyte about 11:35. That will give us about 10 minutes to make sure everyone is there, pick up the Police escort and move onto the base.
Now getting onto the base is no simple procedure because there is a guard gate which we have to pass through and this is a functioning full bore Military Facility. So when you sign the release form you will get a decal to apply to the upper left hand side of the windshield. This lets the guards know that you are with the toy run. I will check everyone at the staging area to make sure you have one or if it blew off tell me and I will give you a replacement. If you DO NOT have the decal they will stop you, you will have to give them your ID and tell them who (person) you are going to see--you can't answer that question so guess what? In addition you have just held up everybody else!
Now for the really serious stuff and I am SERIOUS!! This is in no way a competition event because it was never designed or intended to be so. So when we are on the run let's make sure we all use our heads. We have Jerry Mize with Speciality Carriers standing by so that we can extract one of our people quickly in the event there is a problem. As much as I like Jerry we DON'T want to call him!!
Secondly, about half of this run is curvy road with traffic and lots of double yellow lines-don't do something you will regret later.
Third, if you are in the first couple of groups PLEASE remember there maybe 100 cars behind you and if you go blowing around some turn at the speed limit X 1.5 you are going to incurr the wrath of the local constabulary and they are going to be watching out for anything that looks suspicious after they have given you your ticket. Which means you will be late to the staging area and the ones that followed you may not be able to enjoy the run.
Fourth, Carolyn and I have done our darndest to keep you guys away from the urbal sprawl, but toward the end of the run you will be on some three lane roads through some developments-please heed the speed limits in these areas.
This will be the last big run of the year so let's make it a good one
Been there and enjoyed the RIDE!... The toy run/cruise was great lots of exotics - FERRARI, LAMBORGHINI, PORSCHE (one bright yellow Carrera GT), PANTERA, JAGUAR, FIAT, LOTUS,CORVETTE, ALFA, BMW, MINI, VIPER, AUDI, EVO, SUBARU, MIATA, SAAB, , MERCEDES, 1 SSR, 1 Dodge Hemi truck, & more. The cruise when south out of Ft. Worth, back across I35 E. , way south of Mansfield, back around Joe Pool lake, into south Grand Praire, stopping at the Grand Praire Police department to pick-up and escort of 5-6 Police, then in the old Dallas Naval Station on the fly line to tour a very large Helicopter. Military personnel rides and turn in the toys. Roads were great for sporting vehicles and speed did reach TMS levels at times. Great bunch of people, very friendly, and 100% car nuts. This is their 5th year for this run and I will be back next.
if my ssr wasn't STILL lame (still working out the tire issue im being stubborn) it would have been two SSR's... ugh, i want to do this next year, God willing, hopefully you can post again then as a reminder?

Since I forgot my camera, you watch 2 videos on you tube listed as DFW 2009 TOY RUN. One contains stills + video, about 9 mins. The second is about 3 mins in fast speed, includes most the run. I was second from the front with this group which was filmed from a Mini Cooper S. Note the Corvette pulling away from the Mini Cooper S which was at full throttle. Also there are several stills on Ferrari Chat.com under Texas, then toy run. Enjoy.
