It has flooded really fast here in SA since the ground is so saturated. It's been raining almost every day the past 3 weeks!

I wish you Kentuckians would start doing the rain dance

and the Texans would stop

I have family in Ky, and they call just to say it rained for 10 or 15 minutes, I tell them I remember those days' last year

The ground is saturated!!

we're officially in the market now for an ark - I think we can have a couple of tankers ready to head to KY in about 30 min, will a couple million gallons or so hold you?? - all I can say is Kentucky, be careful what you wish for. For a year we were wishing of rain, well we've got it now!

We've had rain for 2 weeks and it's in the forecast for the next 10 days. Haven't driven with the top down for a while now.

Send some our way - we're so dry Lake Okechobee is at it's lowest point ever. Last week I was coming home from work and saw what looked like a tornado in my backyard - it was just the lawn guy mowing the dirt.

Be safe...

Yesterday Starke Dam (Lake Marble Falls) had all gates open and water going over the spillways taking boats with it.

Mansfield Dam (Lake Travis next to me) had 4 gates (out of 24) open and the water rose 7 feet in 8 hours and rose another 10 feet last night.

It is still raining, but flood waters are TRYING to recede.

Thanks for checking up on us...

here are some pictures from my brother's island resort in Iola, Kansas. These were taken yesterday morning after the water started going down. He lives in the home place we grew up in. In 1951 the water got into the house 18". This is the highest he or I have seen it since then.

The first picture is of Boyce's deer feeder that is in the field beside the house. Water got within 3" of the top of the barrel. The brown vertical line in the bottom of the 2nd picture is the waterline before it started receding. The red building is the vet clinic across from the house. The 3rd pic is from the front doorstep. The clinic, house and barn sit on a slight hill about 50-75 ft higher than the creek behind the house. They were lucky none of the power lines are low so they still have power and phones. There was a large herd of deer up around the house seeking refuge from the water.

Half of the homes in town had water in them before the water level started dropping. The town was under voluntary evacuation and all roads leading into town had been closed.
