We finally got some much needed rain yesterday and today. Only one day of rain since the washed out MV rally.

Thanks anyway wildcat... It's been comin' down for 2 days. The 1st day of hurricane season and we got Tropical Storm Barry. I hope it stops long enough to wash my truck before we leave for Springfield. I'm not really complaining though. I'd rather have rain than the forest fire smoke.....

more rain in forecast

Rain is in the forecast everyday next week, too. After the last couple of years of little rain, we shouldn't be tired of rain. But... "rain, rain, go away - come again some other day/week/month". Enough is enough for awhile.

We are finally getting some much needed rain. Have not had anything in weeks. Ground was getting crispy. With tropical storm coming through we got around 4 inches last night and looks like still a bit more to come. Center is still off the other coast and should pass to the north of us later today.

Back in 1998 we had a spring with no rain. The fires started popping up and for over a month we woke up to smoke and ash in the air. Roads were shut down (I-95 was closed for about two weeks) and there was a fear of fire wherever you went. During that time about a third of the county burned and a bunch of houses were lost. Things got so bad that the entire county was evacuated. It was a month of HELL! When we were finally let back in we returned to what can be described as a war zone. Acres of forests were gone, houses leveled, the National Guard was on patrol in some areas fully armed. It was an experience I really don't want to go through again.
After that I will never complain about rain again. It can ruin a lot of plans and being cooped up indoors can have its effects on people but those fires are a heck of a lot worse.
