We had a BIG SURPRISE visit from CHIEF DESIGNER of the Chevy SSR, Bill Davis. Bill was so pleased to see all the SSR's and the "Mod's" we have done to them. He owns an SSR, 5.3. He asked if "Debbie" Hotrod, was still involved with the Group and we assured him that she was.
The SSR Project was Bill's last assignment before retiring to Florida.
We were like "Little Kids" gathering around listening to stories by our "Hero".
I invited him to our Florida Chapter Annual Rally and he thinks he may be able to attend.
We will extend a Formal Invitation to Bill and his Wife, Sharon to attend our Florida Annual Rally.
We have contacted Bill Davis and he express he plans on attending.

Please stay tuned to this post for All of the Details and Information. This post will be updated to reflect any and all details.

Hi Mike,
My name is Dennis and my wife and I just drove our new 2006 Silver SSR home to Lakeland from Texas. I think by looking at the website we were one of the last six silver ones built.
We are a short drive from Kissimmee and would be interested in more information. My first question is this. I just turned 70 years old, am I likely to be the oldest SSR owner there??

Sent you a PM. No, you are not likely to be the oldest SSR owner there. There will be one there that is older than dirt.

Hi,
I just made a post on the Fantasy thread. It looks like you need 15 to park together so my wife and I will be glad to be the 15th. Asked for some information about it however. I know we will not be there on Sunday but Saturday could be fun.
Also responded to the PM, discovered there is another owner in Lakeland.

Welcome to the group FloRidah from the Redneck Riviera (Panhandle)....You had to come through here on your way from Texas to Lakeland. But....let me offer up a few tidbits of advice, which will make it worth your while.
First thing.....let me enlighten you on this Nosepicker guy. He will tell you he is a retired squid......he is....and he plays a "little" golf......he does. He may ask you if you play......he is quite casual about this........because he has done this before.....if he does....the first thing you say to him is "How many strokes are you gonna give me". Believe me......your gonna need strokes playin' him. But, that's not all......
Second thing...this Dicktator guy.....another (wanna be) golfer.....he is the oldest Fanatic in Florida.......believe is approaching his 92nd birthday soon. Gets around good for his age....and his jaw works really good too.
If he asks you about golfing......and Nosepicker is within earshot, and you'll see him shakin' his head up & down.....there conniving about how they can make a bet with you. Now from my experience just tell them both you will buy them lunch and save yourself the agravation of believing you have a chance of winning anything from them. Now that's the easy way to do it.....but that's not all.....
Third thing....there is this guy named Golfer2...real name is Tony....last name ends with a vowel....you know what that means.....who comes to Florida in the winter from Illinois...he's from Chicago....that should tell you something right?.....actually from Peoria, which is the same thing.....yep, you guessed it......he is a golfer too. Now when he asks if you play golf.....immediately make a doctors appointment because.....when he hits the ball your life is in danger.....you never know where the ball is going......if you notice both Dictator and Nosepicker are in the prone position on the ground when its Tony's turn......you just never know where its going.....just some insight from one who knows this........from experience.
Anyway, have fun with them...and don't believe anything they say about me.....because on occasion they have been known to "fib" about things....and/or people....but when people tell the truth, like I have just done for you......because they all know........the truth hurts.

Will plan to be there
We plan to still be in Florida for March, so we will look forward to the rally. Something else might go wrong, but I don't think we will have any broken water pipes this year!
And Dennis, welcome to the "Fanatics" The Florida group is great and very welcoming. They always make us welcome whenever we are in Florida. Don't worry about age, there are plenty of us in that "range"

Hi Purple,
Thanks for the response and warning. Good news is I grew up in the Chicago area and caddied as a kid. Saw waaaay too many guys wrap their clubs around trees and throw them into the pond in frustration and wondered why they paid so much money to get so bent out of shape.
Ended up with a job where I was on the road 40+ weeks a year and looked at golf as a game that would take me away from my family with what little time I had available so I never really took up the game. Have lots of friends that play but it is really something I never got in to. Now ask me about the Cubs (we are season ticket holders) or the Bears and that is a whole different story.
Like your line about government never giving anything that was not first taken away, we will get along just fine...
YIPPPEEE!!! Mark and I will make every effort to be there....we are finding it a little tough to get together these days, but season at the Golf shop should be just about winding down by March!!! SOOO look forward to seeing everyone again!!! I miss ya'll!

Hi Mike,
I think Jo and I would love to attend on Saturday. Please let me know what it takes to get on the list etc. Loved the dinner afterward also. What a great learning experience for us newbies.
We are interested in attending the SSR Rally in Florida in March. Could we get some info on registering and details on who to go through to book hotel. We are from Joplin, Mo and are looking forward to going somewhere in the winter months as it gets very cold here in the winter. Thank, Dan & Kathy
