Changed to White Cluster

Thanks to Ed Borland and Jeff Barber, I changed my black face cluster to white face.

I like it a lot. Wish the needles were darker but they do fine and do light up at night.

Quite a job to say the least.

Roger, Sharptoys installed Yellow and so did Gary, Vettman62. Looks sharp.

Looks good...thought about the same, but would mis kph...in case I ever went to Canada.

BTW, you can change the cluster without removing the entire dash front...did it in March at the tech session. FYI, for future reference.

I wouldn't mind a white cluster if the lights/numbers were green

Can I ask.. why did you go to the white... the reason I ask is Dad is having trouble seeing the gauges.. too dark... was thinking we needed to get light on .. but maybe the white would brighten it up...??? Does it?

The white would definitely help, LT.

My Yellow Cluster Face is so much easier on the eyes. Not only looks great but notice the replacement faces only have MPH so they are much less busy.

Here you go:

www. USSPEEDO.com

Parts are Stainless Steel and they have replacement needles.

U.S. SPEEDO EXOTIC GAUGES.

I was worried that the needles would not be easy to see but they light up and it has not been a problem . The numbers, for me are the easiest to see.

Of course, it is up to YOU, I did what I WANTED.

Here are Rogers in Yellow.

Doug, if you are going to do the installations I may join the Flagstaff meeting. I cannot read the black and need the yellow back ground. Now I know I am not as good looking as Sandy, but would a 6 pac help sweeten the pot?

LT, I picked white because my car is silver/black and the dash is black the seats are black and the cluster was black.

I find it easier to see, when you get OLD you will understand.

I really did it for contrast and notice the lights are still green.

I was afraid someone would ask that question!!!

Takes a LOT of time and work to do this.

I know they say you can do it in twenty minutes, I can't!!

We MAY do ONE to show how it is done, but ONLY ONE!!

And I will need Ed Borland and Jeffanatic to help with this, they have the most experience.

I volunteer to be the test case.

I just need to decide between Silver or Yellow. Either way my old eyes will appreciate the change.

I love my white face cluster.

Say Dicktator, what did you cover the black plugs with? I used white medical tape.

LT, You and your Dad can look at mine as I'm sure he'll like it much better then the black face.

To remove your old adhesive, clean the plastic streak free and do the face instsll, get the needles in the correct position and complete the job, I would say it takes at least two hours. I did it without disconnecting the air bag but this gives you a limited space to work with resulting in some difficulty in removing the plug for example. I installed my needles while the cluster was in the dash at an angle which was a bit difficult to get the needles installed where you want them so I had to remove all a few times to meet the diagram that I had sketched (a template was not provided per the installation instructions) In order to do this, I started the engine to have the needles r-zero rather then just turning the key on and off. I only pressed the needles on lightly so they could be removed without the tool which worked well. I really like the look of the yellow face

Jeff, We used white adhesive type tape also, we made sure the white color matched.

Thanks,

That is a VERY fair price. Lot of work.

I understand that the stepper motors are sensitive, that being the case, I don't think we want to do this on Tech Day. At least not until I can confirm that we could or could not break them. Don't want to be responsible for breaking anything.
