Olive Garden sounds great
Dingbat (Mike) -
Olive Garden sounds great. Dale and I are just not Hooters people. We would prefer a restaurant like Olive Garden or a similar place where everyone can have their choice of food and drink.

I got things set with the Hilton Garden Inn in Daytona. A group stayed there for the Show and Shine and I got some good reports. Its about 3 miles from the beach and right across the street from the Speedway. Rooms on the beach run a lot more for the same quality and same price hotels are a crap shoot for quality. I've heard some real horror stories.
I have 30 rooms set aside for us for Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th. Standard two queen or King rooms will be $99.00 per night. Jr suites will be $109.00 per night. If you plan on coming in earlier or staying later they will honor these prices for those nights also.
Call for reservations at 386-944-4000 and tell them you are with the SSR Fanatic organization.
I just dug out the calendar and marked the year... Finally an event that takes place a weekend that we don't have the kids!!! I can't wait to tell Ric. He was going to check his days off at work. We will confirm once he verifies he can get the time off work.

Wow the rooms look really nice. Hubby wants the Jr Suite (of course) but I didn't see a picture of it on the website. Judging by the looks of the rooms though, I'm sure it will be very nice. I will have to call and reserve soon!!!

We just stayed there for the Daytona car show - we had a regular king room and it was large and very nice. GASSR had a room on the 5th floor that they said had a living room and was really nice, that must have been a junior suite.
The hotel was great, clean, secure parking, decent hot breakfast - plus it's close to everything. The pool closed early, so the "up late" people would hang out in the lobby till the wee hours - they were very accomodating except for one night manager who thought we were too noisy . However as we were leaving waysouth noticed an outdoor patio with tables and chairs - that will be the late night BS spot this time.

Just Another View ! "The Ocean & Beach sure are nice the end of October".
Mike, we are officially registered with the Dream Cruise site.
Isn't the Cruise going to be up and down A1A? (0n the beach) If it is, the Ocean & Beach would be nice to already have the R's put to bed and be able to sit in chairs next to the road and
and watch the cruise go by.

I thought of that. Pricing, quality of rooms, parking were taken into account.
Rooms on the beach are more expensive for the same quality. Several of the hotels charge extra for parking ($6-10 a night) Some of the areas are notorious for towing vehicles if you don't have parking permits so outside visitors (locals) that want to join in the partying risk being towed. They are like vultures in some areas.
If everyone planned to put their vehicles to bed and sit around and watch what would they be watching?

There are other possibilities on the beach.

Kim & I will be back in Daytona in June. Maybe you and I can take a personal look at a couple "beach places" then, I have a couple in mind.
MAYBE WE CAN GET A FEW FANATICS TOGETHER IN JUNE TOO.
Weather is not quite so hot in June. Can still walk "barefooted" on the sand .
When our Fanatic Group is "watching" we really don't have to have anything specific to watch.
Heck if we have to, we'll just make up something to watch.
Brenda my loving wife wants to stay here (Days Inn 544 South Ridgewood Ave. Daytona beach) and has booked for something like $60 for double Queen. We will be about 4 miles away from the main group, but that makes for more cruising as we will crash your motel.

Sounds good, if the king is large and nice..... that will be all we need. Besides, we don't plan on spending that much time there anyway, as we will be out "fanaticing around"

REBEL You and your bride Brenda might already know this, but Ridgewood is not on the ocean.

There's just something about that first cup of coffee in the morning, looking at the waves rolling in.
