OK, Here is the finished running boards that Lonnie installed today.
Yes, we removed the rubber mat, lowered and tucked them, plus painted to match my 04, then they were clearcoated.
After that, Lonnie sprayed bed coating on the three strips that are under the rubber mat. Used a Line-X type material.
Makes it look lower because the boards are now down to the fender level and tucked in so it easier to enter and exit with out scraping your shoes on the boards.

Lonnie did mine - Lowered, Striped, Tucked and Painted -- I'm going to think about the bed liner treatment - Looks Coooool. --MIKIE
One thing we discovered, which had we thought about it, we would have known, the rubber type bed spary does not give you a sharp clean line. Little ragged but that is the nature of the material I picked.

Done in good taste Dick. Lonnie's a very handy guy to have around.
Can you take a very up-close pix of one of them???

Dicktator, Can't tell from your pictures but does the running boards lean right up against the rocker panels? If so, any issues with two parts rubbing back in forth and not rubbing the paint off.

I don't think he roll-on will make a difference, the problem is the uneven texture of the bedliner material does not let go of the tape evenly. I have another set in my shop to do and I have an idea on how to make it work better, I'll let you know if it works.

NO! The boards do NOT touch the body. You are right, that would be bad.
Careful attention was applied to the bracket fixtures to ensure that they do not allow the boards to touch.
